Rudolf was a Count of Rhaetia. He killed Charles the Fat's only son in 891 of 892. This killing ended the unrest in Alemannia.
During his regime, Rhaetia obtained possession of "the country linging between the Jura, the rive Reuss, and the Pennine Alps, ....from the Col de Bon Homme and Mont Blanc , to Monte Rosa which was known as Upper Burgundy.
