:Thanks for replying to my concerns. I still strongly object to including the alleged interview with C.J. Chivers at the Caucasian Knot website as a reliable source. Also, the connection to Monument (a reputable human rights organization) is impossible for me to determine from the website itself. The refs you cite to a news site called "The Caucasian Knot" may refer to instead, which has the same title. — ] ''alias'' ] 17:39, 21 April 2009 (UTC) | :Thanks for replying to my concerns. Umar Israilov
Ellol, I have made changes to this article which are discussed at Talk:Umar Israilov. Most of my concerns have to do with your edits.
I do not want you to think that I am opposing you. In fact, you and I probably agree that the media in the West are too quick to assume the worst about Russian leaders and their policies, and this bias extends to the Chechen government as well. I think it's very likely that Kadyrov's political opponents assumed he was guilty of Israilov's murder and are using it to attack him.
But the Misplaced Pages article must describe the subject (Israilov) without taking sides in controversies. That is why I have removed direct quotes from Chechen officials. I also removed information derived from the Caucasian Knot website because I am not convinced that it is reliable. (I would also remove information sourced to a site like The Other Russia, which criticizes the Russian government.)
I know that this case is covered much more extensively in the Russian media than in English. But please avoid citing Russian sources in the English Misplaced Pages whenever a reliable English source is available. This is because we want to allow the encyclopedia's readers to easily examine our sources, not just our interpretations of them. (I studied Russian briefly as a student, but unfortunately I have forgotten most of what I learned.) — ℜob C. alias ᴀʟᴀʀoʙ 14:11, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
