"WhatPulse" is a keycounting program which monitors the amount of keystrokes and mouseclicks that you make over a period of time. It is not spyware, as it does not record the keys that you press (software that does this is called a keylogger), but instead measures the number of times that keys are pressed. In this way, you can see the number of keystrokes and mouseclicks over a period of time.

The software also enables you to see the frequency at which you type different letters on your keyboard. It enables you to see how fast you are typing over a period of time by taking an average over a period of time.

Periodically, you can upload the number of keystrokes that you make to the server, and this is called "pulsing". You can see where you are in the leaderboard of people who have joined the program and compare yourself against people from your own country. You can also join teams, which enables you to compare yourself against people with similar interests. As of November 7 2005, more than 80,000 users have joined WhatPulse, and that amount is rapidly growing.

There is also a "WhatPulse" anti-cheat team being formed to help stop cheating for WhatPulse. The next version of whatpulse (1.5.0) will include many anti-cheat measures.

WhatPulse is a cross-platform application, compatible with Windows and Mac.

Along with Whatpulse, you can also get signatures to display your keys and clicks to anyone. These signature images are hosted at http://offbeat-zero.net/pulse and are free to anyone. To get one of these, just click on the register button and type in your Whatpulse username and a password (doesn't have to be your WhatPulse password) and then you will be able to customise your new WhatPulse image.

Whatpulse also has a forum system used by many members of the community. Questions, feature requests, and the like are answered promptly.
