Xhevahir Sukaj (born October 5, 1987) is an Albanian football striker who currently plays for FK Vllaznia in the Albanian Superliga.

Albania

Xhevahir started off his career in 2004 at the young age of just 16 with his hometown club club. After one season at the club he moved to KS Elbasani at the age of 17, but after only making 4 league appearances for the Albanian Superliga club he moved back to his local team Vllaznia Shkodër. Since 2006 Xhevahir has established himself in Vllaznia's first team and has played more than 60 matches for Shkodër based club. He has also played more than 20 international matches with the club (Uefa Cup, Intertoto e.t.c). On the 17 July, 2008, Sukaj scored twice away from home in the first qualifying round of the Uefa Cup against FC Koper of Slovenia. His goals came in the 7th minute and the 45th minute. In the next round Vllaznia had to play the Italian side, Napoli, which proved to be one of Sukaj's last matches in Albania for at least a few seasons. Sukaj only played in the first leg at home, Napoli managed to win the game easily, the final score was 0-3 to the Italian side.

Hacettepe Spor Kulübü

His departure from Vllaznia Shkodër was announced on August 4, 2008.The club who actually secured his signature was Gençlerbirliği S.K., who are the parent club of Hacettepe. He was loaned to Hacettepe, until the end of the season. After being unable to breake into the first team he was loaned back to his homeland of Albania. He only started 2 games, but made other appearances off the bench.

The Return

On his first mathch back he was able to get a hat trick in the match againgt KS Besa, FK Vllaznia won the match 4-1, in 14 other matches that season he scored another 7 goals.

After enjoying a very successful Under-21 career with Albania Sukaj has recently been called up the senior team. He was included in Arie Haan's 20 man list for a friendly against Azerbaijan in Baku 1 He is now a regular in the 23 man team for most matches and hopes to make a name for himself, with the new National team manager, Josip Kuze.
