Sourcing

Welcome to Misplaced Pages, and thank you for your contributions, including your edits to William Connolley. However, please be aware of Misplaced Pages's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Any controversial statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Misplaced Pages page, must include proper sources. Thank you.

Specifically, Misplaced Pages projectspace pages are not appropriate sources for other Misplaced Pages articles, particularly not for biographies. While I'm here, do you happen to have any other Misplaced Pages accounts? MastCell  04:17, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Misplaced Pages about living persons, as you did to William Connolley. Thank you. MastCell  04:27, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
This is not poorly referenced. It is an action that was taken, and thus represents a bold edit that improves the article. Summer's Eve (talk) 04:28, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
It is inappropriately referenced, according to the relevant Misplaced Pages policy, which you are again encouraged to read. Boldness is a reasonable rationale for making an edit, but not for continuing to edit-war to reinsert material which violates this site's fundamental policies. I am going to need to pull rank on you here, and invoke WP:IAR. Summer's Eve (talk) 04:36, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
WP:IAR is generally useful when one's actions are clearly undertaken with the encyclopedia's benefit in mind. It's less useful as a fig leaf for a sockpuppet harassing a contributor while he's down in furtherance of a personal agenda. I guess it depends on which category you see yourself in.
