ELISA stands for Enzyme Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay. Essentially, this assay tells you if there is a certain protein in any given sample. The steps in this procedure are: 1) Attach an antibody (this antibody specifically binds to the protein of interest) to a solid support (usually a membrane) 2) Apply the sample to this membrane, and let the protein bind to the antibody 3) Wash the membrane 4) Apply a second antibody which is linked to an enzyme 5) Apply a chemical which is coverted by the enzyme into a glowing signal 6) See the result
