In an interview with HipHopDX in November 2009, Game explained why he put off the "D.O.C." for a later release. "The way it happened, I was starting to work on D.O.C., right? But, like I told you last time, in order to record The D.O.C., I need to be in the studio with D.O.C., with Dre, with Cube, with Snoop - 'cause it's the Diary of Compton. I really want it to sound after you finish listening to The D.O.C., which will probably be recorded and put out by the end of my career, at some point, when I can get in with those guys and really focus on that project. I want you to feel like you're from Compton after you hear it. You felt everything that I felt and knew everything that I knew; I want it to just sound like you were me. I want you to feel like you grew up with me. You're from Compton . I want you to be on The Diary Of Compton. I want it to be that intimate and that crazy. So to pull off that concept, the key elements were missing at the time when I started the album, so I stopped that project."<ref>http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/interviews/id.1443/title.game-the-ecstatic</ref>

Cool explained. ''The first day we went to L.A., we had already done a bunch of shit for him, and we’re just playing ‘em ‘All right, I’m ready to go in the booth.’ Boom, we knocked out like seven different ideas so me and Dre are like ‘Fuck, we done let all of our arsenal off in this first night!’ Next day, ‘What else you got? Let’s get it going!’ We let off all our arsenal, he recorded to seven, eight records on the first night. Laid a verse, a hook here, two verses here, a whole song. I’m like, ‘Yo Dre, he’s recording to everything we did on the way up. Damn, now we gotta start up some new shit with him.’ Certain artists we just have that great chemistry with, man and Game is definitely one of ‘em.'' <ref>http://www.rapbasement.com/the-game/092309-producers-cool-and-dre-talk-about-working-with-the-game-on-his-new-album.html</ref>

The R.E.D. Album is the upcoming fourth studio album by rapper Game. It is set to be released on February 16, 2010, by Interscope Records.
Background
Game had confirmed that he would retire after his 2008 album, LAX. However, he announced that he would release another album titled D.O.C. or Diary of Compton, if he could get production from the original N.W.A members. In November 2009, HipHopDX interviewed Game and he stated that the reason he would not release D.O.C. was because he needed help from Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.
In 2009 he confirmed the title The R.E.D. Album and that the title was to signify his "RE-Dedication" to hip-hop. The album was set to be released on December 1, 2009 but was pushed to December 8, 2009. However, Game has pushed the album back to February 16, 2010 because Dr. Dre wanted more time to finish production for the album.
"Krazy" was released as a street single on October 29, 2009. It features Gucci Mane and production by Timbaland. "Big Money" was released as the first official single also on October 29, 2009.
Recording
Game recorded with Timbaland and Drumma Boy in Los Angeles. Game revealed to MTV that he had been working with J. R. Rotem, Mike Lynn, Cool & Dre and hopes to get production from Kanye West. In an interview with XXL, Boi-1da stated that he had given beats to Game for the album. Game stated that Dr. Dre and Pharrell will be executive producing the album.
XXL confirmed features including Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Pharrell, Gucci Mane and Kanye West. Akon has also been confirmed to be featured on a track titled "Would I Be Wrong?" with production from Polow da Don.
