Cheers. And well done yourself on finding that bigger version and getting it up there. It did amazingly well. --jjron (talk) 09:09, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Historic images

Thanks for uploading some interesting historic images! If you haven't already, I suggest you check out Wikimedia Commons. For free licensed images (such as old public domain/US government images, etc) you can upload them directly there. Why? They will then be availible not only here on the English language Misplaced Pages, but also for Wikipedias in other languages, other Wikimedia projects, etc-- and putting them into any article here on the English language Misplaced Pages is still just as easy; do exactly the same as if it was uploaded here. Commons also has categories and galleries, allowing useful images to be found in multiple ways. Check it out, and let me know if I can be of help. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 06:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, guys. I'm now uploading all new PD images to Commons -- Pete Tillman (talk) 20:26, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Trinity and Brixner

I just called up his daughter and asked her for information. I did that for about a dozen people so far. Its a lot easier than combing though archives to get a day and place of birth. Once you have the info its easier to confirm with a Google search, no one has refused to talk yet. I can't even get my own family members to cooperate on family history, so its nice when others do it. Have you ever cold called someone? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 17:27, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Planchas de Plata (etc)

Thanks for your additions to the mining articles. I have never been to Planchas de Plata myself. A friend and I made a half-hearted stab at it years ago, but we could not find our way over the dirt roads from Nogales. It would be fun to see it. Plazak (talk) 21:10, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Great image uploading

For Good Works on Uploading Images
Presented by SilkTork

Thanks for putting the new image in George Harrison. I had a look at what else you have done, and see that you have been responsible for tracking down and uploading some fine images. I would second the comment above that many of the images you upload would be useful at Commons, and that it would be helpful to upload new images there, and to seriously consider moving some of your existing 'pedia images over there. Though on Commons the images must be free use - usable by everyone, so more care needs to be exercised on what is allowable. Anyway - keep up the good work!

I've given you a Wiki award which you may display on your user page! SilkTork * 14:22, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 14:30, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Wari

Tillman,

Is it possible for you to upload the picture “Wari tunic.jpg” to commons? Or are there problems with the copyrights outside the USA? I would like yo use the picture for the dutch wikipedia. See ]Technische Fred (talk) 11:58, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure if this sort of file is acceptable for commons, as it's PD under a US court decision: see . If you think its OK, please feel free to copy it to commons. Beautiful piece, isn't it? Best regards, Pete Tillman (talk) 17:57, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Marrella

Hi, your crop of File:Marella.png removed the scale. I'd be grateful if you would either add a scale bar to the new image, or restore the original file. Thanks, Martin (Smith609 – Talk) 17:25, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Is the scale in centimeters? What if I add to the legend, "width of image = 2 (or whatever) cm"? I thought the scale & table detracted from the nice photo of the critter. Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 18:19, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

Hi, I've given you rollback. Remember only to use it for blatant vandalism, and revert manually when the edit is in good faith. You can test it out here. I also suggest you warn vandals with vandal warning templates. If you have any questions, please ask. Cheers, bibliomaniac15 02:20, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

welcome to NRHP!

Hey, glad to see you joined up at wp:NRHP. Welcome, from a fellow member. Please feel free to post any questions or comments at the talk page, shortcut wt:NRHP. Also, please feel free to post any new articles that you create, at the New Articles box on the main page, just add your new article name there. That tends to attract some helpful others' attention. Unfortunately i am not local to Yavapai, but i visited there with the Don Quixotic purpose of capturing all of its NRHP sites for wikipedia listing with pics. It turns out Yavapai has too many, too widely scattered sites for me to get to all of them. I actually wandered around in a fog one morning early at the top of Mingus mountain, and could not find the lookout towers. Also i trekked far into Agua Caliente or something like that, to find a solitary Ranger station. Fun, and got it, but cost half a day, and almost lost my car in a puddle. You need a jeep to get to some of these Ranger stations, lookouts, and bridges! And then i didn't post my pics and start articles right away, so i am further afraid i will not be able to match up my pics to the correct NRHP sites. Please feel free to start up any new articles out of redlinks the National Register of Historic Places listings in Yavapai County, Arizona list article. If you would please make any edit at the list-article, like beginning a description, then I will notice it off my watchlist and know to come visit the new article. There are useful tools like an NRHP infobox generator which I can tell you about later. Really glad you are on board! Cheers, doncram (talk) 00:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, and thanks for the mini-archive thingie! Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 02:25, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Yavapai County

Thanks for the new pictures! Since it's finally clear to everyone (admitting the possibility that it was clear to everyone else a good while ago) that it's only Black Canyon City, a few questions: (1) Any idea if the boundary increase simply included a location change? I think this happens sometimes.

I think it was just an expansion -- there are archaeol, sites on the Forest Service lands adjacent, and some of the BLM land that wasn't included in AFNM

(2) Did you get any pictures when you were out there?

Sorry, no -- I'm not much of a photographer :-[

(3) Since you say that the book includes a description, could you post somewhat of the description, referencing the book? We don't always leave "Address Restricted" as restricted, if we have a reliable source for the information, although it's good to note in the citation that the NRIS lists it as restricted. Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 12:01, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Sure. Actually, I've been thinking I should start the Perry Mesa Archaeoligical District article, and that would be a logical place. Do you have an URL for the NRHP declarations for there? Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 18:51, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Hopi mural

I like the Hopi mural pic you added to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Editor help. And glad there's a suggestion therefore that someone reads there....

Just a note/question: it's a pic of an artwork, and as such i am not sure about its copyright for use in wikipedia. The photograph, which the description says is a photo by a Fed employee, is not itself copyrighted. But art works are different, there are much tougher rules about these. In general you cannot take pics of any modern art sculptures, even in public places, and upload them to wikipedia. I did just recently participate in wp:Misplaced Pages Loves Art, an event in cooperation with museums in which people went and took pics of old art in museums that is public domain, but i thought the cutoff was 1927 or older, or something like that. I am not going to go out of my way about this one, further complicated by the fact it is Federal pic, but perhaps you should look into the art copyright stuff, as someone else may bring it up. Really neat mural, actually, and Mary Jane Colter sure did good work with the series of compatible structures along the South Rim. doncram (talk) 18:35, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Heh. I just got into this over at Talk:Rhyolite, Nevada re Commons:Freedom of panorama -- you're right, it's messy. Kabootie was a sort-of Federal employee then, and it is an official NPS photo. Still, maybe not the best choice for an example... Maybe substitute File:Lace House.jpg, from HABS?? Assuming it's NRHP-listed, can't imagine not. Great building. Haven't been back there since the casinos came in. They kinda made a mess at Cripple Creek. Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 18:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh, okay, yes it's about panoramas and all that. Just browsed the wikipedia loves art stuff, they're announcing winners in some areas but not the one i participated in yet. It seems the cutoff for most purposes in that event was 1927. I like the Lace House pic though, neat looking. As you must know, anything in HABS is public domain, the HABS project was specifically set up that way, unlike some other NPS website photos which may in fact be copyrighted. Nice job in fully describing that HABS pic in your upload. I've seen others where photographer and date are not credited, even though available somewhere. User:KudzuVine has done a lot of good uploading of HABS pics too, many showing in List of NHLs in SC for example. doncram (talk) 19:18, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Lace House is probably in the Central City-Black Hawk Historic District, but rather than find out for sure, I'll plug in this nice HAER photo: File:CoolidgeDam.jpg. --Pete Tillman (talk) 20:36, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

ZCTA

Thanks for adding the ZCTA populations! Just one note — the official name is "ZIP Code Tabulation Area", not "Zip Code Tabulation Area". Also, could you add sources for the ZIP codes for the communities? If my request isn't clear, look at what I did to Arivaca. Nyttend (talk) 14:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Do you really think we need to cite ZIP codes? That seems a bit like citing county or state locations. Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 14:48, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Didn't see your reply until now on this...yes, just like anything else. We cite county/state with GNIS or Census Bureau information, and when we're dealing with ZCTAs, it's more important, because the Census Bureau data doesn't tell you what ZIP code goes with what community. Nyttend (talk) 11:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. Yes, it is a bit of a slog figuring out what area a ZCTA really covers. --Pete Tillman (talk) 16:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

List of SF Authors

Thanks for cleaning it up, but why move Mike Resnick's picture from the Rs to the Ps? Shsilver (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I was trying to keep Zelazny's photo from being way down below the end of the list! Cheers --Pete Tillman (talk) 20:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Standing Offer/Request

Given our past interactions on various topics I thought I would make the following offer.

If you ever have something you want me to offer an opinion on or that you feel I might personally be interested in anywhere on wikipedia, its talk pages, or within any of the official forums such as noticeboards, RfCs, RfAs, and the like, please contact me directly on my talk page and feel free to reference this standing request. I trust your judgment in deciding which topics might be of interest to me, and please keep me informed of any topics in general as well as items specifically involving you personally.

Here, let me formally make the unsolicited request. Please make a note of it. --GoRight (talk) 03:27, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

High Road to Taos

Thanks for the input; I don't remember what exactly the problem was, but there was somewhat on these articles about them being along this road — in the introduction — and everything was unsourced. Reading the article on the High Road, I really wasn't sure whether it were serious or not, and if it were serious, whether it were significant; after all, the creator put it in a villages category and tried to put it on a county template, so I didn't know if it were perhaps exaggerated well past reality. Images undeleted

Tillman, I have restored:

as User:Optigan13's request. However the images are still missing proper licensing information and Optigan seems to be on a vacation. Can you add the appropriate license tags, so that the images are not deleted again? Thanks. Abecedare (talk) 02:34, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Done -- thanks for your help on this. I'll restore them to the original articles in a day or two.
Could you also restore the old talk page for File:Selig Zoo Archway.jpg? I went ahead and created a new one, to explain the restore, so just put the old material in front of that. I don't think the other image previously had a talk page. Thanks, Pete Tillman (talk) 03:43, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
I have restored the talk page history, which had one deleted edit. You can add that back to the page if you wish (although it doesn't seem to be relevant to me). Thanks for uploading these images and getting all the licensing issues resolved. Since these images are PD, you may want to transfer them to Commons eventually, so that they can be used on other language wikis too. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 04:00, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for addressing these while I was gone. I've placed the hollenbeck and the two restored images into a new Category:UCLA-Los Angeles Times photographs to track those, and applied {{Keeplocal}} tags on the images. Can you check my wording in the notice at the top and update as you see fit. If everything looks ok I'll try to go through and update the other UCLA/LA times images to match. In the long term UCLA should probably update their license tags, but I'm not in any hurry to try to write them an e-mail/letter asking them to do so. Thanks for your work on this. -Optigan13 (talk) 06:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Looks fine to me. I'll add to the category as time permits -- which could be awhile. Thanks, Pete Tillman (talk) 21:23, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I've updated the images in Category:Images of California that were from UCLA to include all the templates and moved into the UCLA category. Not sure what other ones you've uploaded that are still on en.wiki and not commons at this point, but let me know if would like assistance tagging additional images. I do have one more image which I have issue with, but I'll start a new section on that one. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:50, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Standard Oil Company building Coalinga oil fields image

File:SOCoalinga.jpg is the last file I see that has an issue with copyright at the moment. It's using the Historic Fair use template, and right now I don't feel it fills the Misplaced Pages:Non-free content criteria to be used in the Coalinga Oil Field. If you can update the article so that the image serves a purpose above being decorational we can avoid a deletion discussion. I'm about done clearing out Category:Images of California so this should be the last issue to look at. I'll probably come back to this at some point over the weekend if I'm going to nominate it, I'm just giving you some lead time. Thanks for all your work and patience on these so far. -Optigan13 (talk) 08:05, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. I've added some historic information (tracing the company history from Std Oil to Chevron) for the company's operations at the field. Will that pass muster? I'll also redo the FUR -- thought I'd caught all of these with the old template. Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 17:18, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Not really. The image has to illustrate something that needs to be described to a reader to understand the topic, and which couldn't be relayed by any amount of words. Seeing the building with the companies name on it doesn't add to readers understanding of the Coalinga Oil Field. Do readers need to know anything specifically about that building, which that photo illustrates? -Optigan13 (talk) 06:48, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
The encyclopedic point isn't the building itself, but the (very prominent) identification signs painted on the roof. These signs form a visual "hook" to lead the reader into the corporate history of Standard Oil (etc.) at the Coalinga oilfield, which we discuss in some detail in the article. To me, that's enough "contextual significance" to justify fair use of a (probably copyright-expired) image. But I see your point, and won't take offense if you feel strongly enough to move to delete. Best regards, Pete Tillman (talk) 15:40, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

List of Native American artists

Would you consider looking at this list? I'm trying to purge the less notable artists and don't know quite as much about who's who in ceramics as I would like to. Thanks for any edits or suggestions! Cheers, Uyvsdi (talk) 00:22, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Uyvsdi

I'll be happy to, though any substantial work will probably have to wait until I get back to Arizona, where the bulk of my art library is.
I also see many prominent artists who still need wikibios, and will work on some of those as time permits.
Thanks for your continuing work on this project. I've been working on other things, so this is a good spur to do some more work on Native American art. Best regards, Pete Tillman (talk) 04:49, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
No hurry. Thank so much for adding information about Michael Kabotie. Cheers, -Uyvsdi (talk) 17:44, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Uyvsdi

Art images

Wow, kudos to you for all the images added! I confess that I haven't really figured out WikiCommons - it's not as user-friendly as Misplaced Pages proper. I know low-rez images of art can be used as non-free fair use images, but haven't quite figured out the rules, so I stick to photos I've taken of public art or art in museums that allow photography. Michael Kabotie's passing is just shocking, since he was so active beforehand. Now that I think about it, there's a John Hoover sculpture that I have access too. Have a good evening! -Uyvsdi (talk) 07:31, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Uyvsdi

Regarding the Annie Antone image, as long as the image is low-rez (i.e. no one could replicate her design based on a photograph), I believe it would be regarded as your photograph of a 3-D art form. I'd suggest uploading the file at Wikimedia Commons. The photograph would be "entirely your own work." For permission you could put it into public domain by typing in: "{ { pd-self } }" (without the spaces). For anything before 1923, I enter "{ { pd-old } }" (also without the spaces) for the permission. Hope this helps! The Heard would be a good spot to photo more artists. Cheers, Uyvsdi (talk) 17:32, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Uyvsdi
Thanks for the tips. Too bad I'm such a rotten photographer. Usually, if I don't forget the camera entirely, the batteries have gone dead.
Lo-res, eh? Well, I could use the phone-cam! Too bad I have absolutely no clue as to how to export fotos from the phone....
Hmm. Actually, this computer has a webcam, which actually is (sort of) easy to use. I could try that for in-house art fotos. Hmm --Pete Tillman (talk) 18:01, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (File:Penguin logo.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Penguin logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 03:35, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Harrison Begay

Nice job! I encourage you to do more. Still quite a few redlinks on that page. Even initiating a stub is productive. I urge caution in linking to commercial pages explicitly selling items. Amerindianarts (talk) 06:47, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! It's surprising how many first-rate artists don't yet have Wikipages. OTOH, it takes a lot of work to put together a decent one (as I just rediscovered). Good projects for bad-weather days.
I'll only link to commercial galleries when I can't find a decent noncommercial one -- and then only to low-pressure ones. But I take your point. Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 18:43, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

why the fact tag on the programmer comments paragraph (CRU data incident)

I'm trying to figure out your objection here so I can accommodate you. Are you objecting to the fact that there are independent code analyses going on? Are you objecting to the description of comments talking about fake data and the problem of different national datasets reusing the same fake data and causing problems because of that? Specifically, what do you want better documented? TMLutas (talk) 06:48, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi -- I'm fine with the independent studies -- which are a good idea -- but just that it needs a cite. Maybe there is one by now? Cheers -- Pete Tillman (talk) 16:42, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Here is a substantial new discussion of the issue. Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 17:26, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Speaking of CRU, I have been following the discussion at the Climategate page. That led me to this: Talk:Climatic Research Unit. It seems that WMC has an objection to the Time's implication or statement that CRU made predictions. His objection has delayed the inclusion of your proposed edit. If it is indeed true that CRU does not "do predictions", then they have a very odd way of not doing them. I went to the CRU's webpage. According to CRU, one of its three reasons for being is to make "prospects for the future". If you click the "Publications" link on CRU's webpage, you will find publications of CRU nearly all of which make predictions. Evensong (talk) 08:40, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

re CRU section

Thanks but no thanks, honestly I think that whole area will just be a huge waste of time at the moment. Perhaps in a few months. Unomi (talk) 22:13, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident

Your making this edit was not a good decision, since it was obvious that at least three experienced users objected to it. I am happy to see that you didn't re-revert, but in the future please use the talk page before making controversial edits. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 17:32, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

This edit was a revert, and I'd urge you to read my note at Talk regarding this -- and the same discussion ongoing at Talk:Climatic Research Unit. Clear NPOV violation in my view. Thanks, Pete Tillman (talk) 17:57, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Unless I'm seriously misreading something, you're making an accusation of misconduct against a living person here. Per our WP:BLP policy, you need to provide something more than a self-published source. Guettarda (talk) 03:05, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Sunrise Dam Gold Mine

Sorry, mate, but I had to revert one of your edits. In the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine article, you put the Acacia logo in the infobox, I think that would be missleading as Acacia doesn't exist anymore and therefore also isn't the owner of the mine anymore. Merry Christmas, Calistemon (talk) 00:10, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Oops. NP. Nice satphoto, eh? Cheers -- Pete Tillman (talk) 01:02, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Very nice sat photo, I have to agree. Are you motivated to create some more for the other Western Australian gold mine articles? Calistemon (talk) 01:14, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Just as I come across them -- I subscribe to NASA's new picture release emails, and post those that are applicable to WP. I've never worked in OZ, and never even been to WA, so my on-the-ground expertise there is nil. Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 01:31, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Personal attacks

Either you have not read our policy on personal attacks, or you have chosen to ignore it. Calling other editors stupid is not acceptable. Reposting links to your personal attacks is not acceptable. Guettarda (talk) 00:02, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

My post in full:

Guettarda, your logic is... breathtaking. What part of alleged don't you understand? Unless you think CRU is judge & jury both? Get a clue, guy(s). Best, Pete Tillman

Please point out where I called other editors "stupid", and, for that matter, what you perceive as a Personal Attack in this post.
You seem a bit touchy, I must say. --Pete Tillman (talk) 01:04, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Name change support

Hi Pete,

I just re-read the material for renaming the CRU incident page and saw you've changed your Opposed (now stricken) to Support (not listed). You might want to make sure it's listed under the support heading? Troed (talk) 11:33, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, but I think I'll let it stand as is -- the new title would be an improvement, but not much of one, in my view. Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 18:19, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Re: MWP as warm as CWP

Erm? Sorry Pete, but that the MWP globally (or just the Northern Hemisphere) should have been warmer than the last part of the 20th century, is supported by no hemispheric og global temperature reconstruction. I will repeat that: None, Zip, Zero. (not even the Loehle reconstruction after he corrected it for errors) - So who are the people who (once again) think that the MWP was as warm as the CWP?
When you are referring to Briffa, do you have a recent comment? Or are you just picking up on a comment from a 1999 email? I hope you aren't, since as you should know that a lot of water has run under the bridge since that time, and that more and more reconstructions (and papers) have shown the opposite. (including Briffa's own papers). --Kim D. Petersen (talk) 22:33, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Kim & thanks for the note.
FWIW, my take on the matter, as an informed outsider, is that the proxy data aren't good enough to tell. IMO, the error bands on the published work I've looked at in detail are understated, sometimes grossly so. The level of statistical expertise demonstrated in climate science is generally pretty dismal, imo -- and I'm pretty knowledgeable about these sort of statistics, both from training and from experience.
There is a fair bit of empirical evidence that the MWP was somewhat warmer than CWP: treelines, crop plantings, Greenland colonies etc etc. So your categorical statement above just isn't true.
There's the additional problem that we don't (imo) currently have a good historical climate record, after all the mysterious manipulations and "value added" by CRU, GISS, and others. The best evidence of this I've seen is the satellite record: See, forex, Douglass & Christy 2009, Fig 1. . I think you'll find this a provocative (& short) paper. This graph supports my strong impression that the current versions of the historical temp record are biassed warm, for the past 3 or 4 decades, and suspect elsewhen.
I agree, a bit OT at S&B contro, but interesting, no? Best for 2010, Pete Tillman (talk) 19:12, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Pete, best for 2010 as well :) But now for the more serious part...
Note that i said "hemispheric or global reconstruction", those are the synthesis of the proxy records, not individual records. When you look at individual proxy records, they will often show a clear and distinct MWP and LIA, but when you combine the view with other proxies, then the picture changes: The LIA is still distinct, but the MWP gets "fuzzy"... This happens because the while individual records may have a period around 800-1200 years ago that was warm/cold/wet/dry - they often do not match other proxy records temporally, and thus the synthesis period for the hemisphere/globe doesn't show the same distinct signal. For instance Fenno-Scandia was probably warmer than Fenno-Scandia is today - but other regions were not. (ie. the statistics do not show the same signal as individual records).
Without going into detail on the temp-record, i will point out that the temp-record that has the most value-adding and which changes the most between corrections is the Sat-record, making the reliability of that record rather suspect. This is the reason that the NAS committee at the time considered that the disparacy in the tropical record between surface records and satellite most likely is a problem with the sat-record. --Kim D. ArbCom

Have you seen this: Misplaced Pages:Arbitration/Requests/Case#Climate_Change?

They are still working out the list of parties and whom to notify, so you may yet get formal notification, but just thought I'd make sure you knew.--SPhilbrickT 18:27, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. So far, so good. Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 18:52, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Eric S. Raymond

Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Eric S. Raymond, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Misplaced Pages:General sanctions/Climate change probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.

The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you.

Please note that I just added this due to the recent edit warring over blog-sourced references to the subject's global warming views, so obviously it was not under probation at the time of your recent edits. --TS 05:02, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
