Omar S. Amanat is a businessman and entrepreneur who founded Tradescape, a brokerage and technology firm that on one given day is reported to have processed 7% of NASDAQ's daily trading volume, and was previously named one of the "Top 100 Companies in the United States" by the Red Herring magazine . E*Trade entered into an agreement to acquire Tradescape for total consideration worth up to $280 million and Mr. Amanat became one of E*Trade's largest shareholders.
He is also an Executive Producer and co-founder of film companies including Groundswell Productions, a $200 million film production company which produces films such as the Academy Award nominated film "The Visitor," Sean Penn's academy award winning film "Milk." and Matt Damon's "The Informant."
