Main Characters

Ayane

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAX, DOAU, DOA4) A kunoichi with murderous motives and purple hair. She takes part in DOA to take on Kasumi.

Bass Armstrong

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAU, DOA4) A professional wrestler who wants to stop his daughter Tina from winning the DOA Tournaments. Appears to be inspired by Hulk Hogan.

Bayman

(DOA1, DOA3, DOAU, DOA4) A former Russian commando who joins the DOA1 tournament to assassinate Fame Douglas, and later joins the DOA3 tournament to retaliate against Donovan for the attempt on his life by a sniper.

Brad Wong

(DOA3, DOA4) A man who joins DOA in search of a riddle from his old master Chen, who told him to "bring the legendary drink called Genra." After three years of wandering on his journey he finds himself in a fighting tournament.

Christie

(DOA3, DOAX, and DOA4) a British assassin hired by Donovan to keep an eye on, and eventually kill, Helena. Christie's mission is to stop Helena from competing in DOA3 and later to prevent Helena from discovering more about the secret plans of Donovan and his anti-Douglas faction.

Elliot

(DOA4) A German-born apprentice of Gen Fu

Gen Fu

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAU) An old martial arts master, he fights in DOA to obtain money to cure his sick granddaughter, Mei Lin. After DOA2 however another sum of money was needed and so he joins again in DOA3.

Hayate

( DOA3, DOAU, DOA4) Kasumi's and Ayane's brother. He was captured in DOA, after which his memory was temporarily lost. This was done By Doatech during the Epsilon project, released by Lisa (aka la Mariposa) Hayate wanders in the estorcial black forest of germany until he is found by hitomi. He joined DOA2 as Ein in order to find out more about himself. After DOA2 his memory has been restored and he returns in DOA3 as the leader of the Mugen Tenshin Style.

Helena

(DOA2, DOA3, DOAX, DOAU, DOA4) A young, French woman. She is the daughter of Fame Douglas, former leader of DOATEC. She joins DOA2 in search of the murderer of her mother and joins DOA3 in order to find the truth about the conspiracies within DOATEC.

Hitomi

(DOA 3, DOAX, DOAU, DOA4) A young Karate student who wants to show her fighting skills at the tournament.

Jann Lee

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAU, DOA4) A young martial arts expert who joins the Tournaments to show his superior Jeet Kune Do fighting abilities, and in the meantime, defeat evil scum in the form of Tengu and Genra. The character design was probably inspired by (and the character supposedly trained by) Bruce Lee.

Kasumi

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAX, DOAU, DOA4) A runaway shinobi (ninja) in search of her lost brother Hayate.

Kokoro

(DOA4) A Japanese girl that uses the Hakkyokuken fighting style. Itagaki comments that Hakkyokuken was first used in Virtua Fighter, which he calls the "origin of 3D fighting games." Virtua Fighter's main character, Akira, uses this fighting style, but Itagaki hopes to reproduce the martial art even more realistically in DOA4. Kokoro is a geisha in training, but her heart is not in it, so she decides to join DOA. In doing so, she ends up meeting her half-sister Helena.

Lei Fang

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAX, DOAU, DOA4) A young Chinese woman who joined the Tournament in order to fight Jann Lee, a martial arts expert who saved her life from a bunch of thugs. For that she was very grateful, yet felt that she could have handled the situation herself. After that incident, she mastered the art of Tai Chi Quan to prove her independence.

Leon

(DOA2, DOA3, DOAU) Made a promise in the desert to his dead lover. She said that he was the strongest person in the world, so he joins the DOA tournaments to fulfill her expectation.

Lisa

(DOAX, DOA4) Lisa first appears in DOAX. In DOA4, Lisa is first known as La Mariposa, the female Luchador.

Ryu Hayabusa

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAU, DOA4) A ninjutsu expert and good friend of Hayate. Originally from the Ninja Gaiden series, in DOA2, he comes across his lost friend and kills the Evil Tengu. He also joins DOA3 to again fight evil, this time in the form of Genra, another evil being created by DOATEC.

Tina Armstrong

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAX, DOAU) The daughter of Bass Armstrong. She wants to win the tournament to become a famous model, but decides to become an actress in DOA3.

Zack

(DOA1, DOA2, DOA3, DOAX, DOAU) An American fighter, who joins the DOA tournament for no other reason than to win a lot of money. He is very similar in appearance to Dennis Rodman, who even voiced Zack in DOAX.

Boss Characters

Genra

(DOA3) Ayane's adoptive father. He is the boss of DOA3.

Raidou

(DOA1) Kasumi and Hayate's uncle. He raped their mother, who became impregnated with Ayane.

Tengu

(DOA2, DOAU) is a mythological creature from Japanese folklore. In DOA2 he wants chaos to reign over the world, but is stopped. He can be played as an extra character and has some some new moves and a new outfit. His name was stated as "Gohyappou Bankotsubo", but he is more commonly known as simply "Tengu."

ALPHA-152

(DOA4) nothing is known about this character except that "she" (referred to as such due to its appearance) was created by DOATEC and will be a boss character. It has since been revealed that Alpha-152 is actually a clone of Kasumi created by DOATEC. It is not known at this time what her fighting style will be, or if she will be a true clone (look exactly like Kasumi) or an imperfect clone, one that has Kasumi's DNA but does not share her physical appearance.
