Judith A. Curry is an American climatologist. She has been the chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology since 2002. From 1992 to 2002, she was a Professor of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Prior to that, she taught at Penn State, Purdue, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Curry's research interests have included hurricanes, atmospheric modeling, polar climates, and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for atmospheric research.

In 1974 she received a B.S. cum laude from Northern Illinois University in Geography, and received her Ph.D. in Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago in 1982. She has published two books and over 140 scientific papers. Among her awards was the Henry G. Houghton Research Award from the American Meteorological Society in 1992.

Career

Dr. Curry has conducted research into possible connections between hurricane intensity and global warming and has co-authored and written several books and papers related to her field.

While she supports the scientific opinion on climate change, she has written that Climatologists should be more transparent in their dealings with the public saying, "This whole concept of, ‘We’re the experts, trust us,’ has clearly gone by the wayside".
