Everybody Draw Mohammed Day is a suggestion put forward by a cartoonist for "everybody" to draw an illustration representing Mohammed, the founder of Islam. The suggestion was made in response to the threat issued by radical Islamists against the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, for making an episode featuring a character who purported to be Mohammed.
The threat, carried on U.S.-based website RevolutionMuslim.com, said that they could wind up like Theo Van Gogh, the Dutch filmmaker who was murdered by Muslim extremists for depicting Muhammed on his show. The logic is that if millions of people draw pictures of Mohammad the terrorists will not be able to murder them all and will realize that their jihad is unrealistic.
