Amanat is a businessman and entrepreneur who founded several film and financial technology companies including Tradescape, a brokerage and technology firm that is reported to have processed 7% of NASDAQ's daily trading volume, and was named one of the "Top 100 Companies in the United States" by the Red Herring magazine with annual revenues of over $250 million. E*Trade acquired Tradescape for $276.2 million in total consideration including $96.2 million in initial consideration plus $180 million in contingent consideration.


He subsequently founded several film companies and became an Executive Producer of films including the Academy Award nominated The Visitor, George Clooney's documentary about the Darfur genocide entitled Darfur Now, Smart People starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Quaid, and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh starring Sienna Miller and Nick Nolte among other movies.
