Chrysoupoli (Template:Lang-el, Template:Lang-bg, Sarashaban) is a municipality in the Kavala Prefecture, Greece. Population 15,678 (2001). It was known as "Sarışaban" during Ottoman rule. It was kaza centre in Drama sanjak at Selanik Vilayet before the Balkan Wars. It was first occupied by Bulgaria during the First Balkan War but was then taken by the Greek Army on the 11th of July, 1913. It was also occupied by Bulgaria between 1941-1944 during World War II. Its old name was Sapaioi between 1913-1929.
