Thai Royal Flags

Hello, someone asked me to finished them a longtime ago but because of the complexity and the large number of them I decided to only do three more: the Crown Prince's, Princess Sirindhorn's and Princess Chulabhorn's. They are still in my todo list. Sodacan (talk) 12:11, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Montenegrin flag

Hey, how are you? I see you uploaded Montenegrin president flag, are you sure it's true? As I never saw President having any other flag than official state flag of Montenegro. And from where you got the flag image? Thanks in advance! Cheers! Rave92 16:02, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Ok thanks, I will. Rave92 13:18, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Hong Kong Colonial Flags

Hi, I noticed that you reverted all my edits to the Hong Kong colonial flags. I was just wondering why you think SVG is superior when clearly the graphic quality of my flags are much more lively and 3-dimensional? May be we can convert my flags to SVG?

129.2.175.85 (talk)

Yes, the reason I reverted was for two reasons, the first is that on Misplaced Pages SVGs are considered superior and should always be used when possible, and also because 3-D is not used on flags. Fry1989 (talk) 23:50, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Flags

I saw few edits where you had added flags to navigational infoboxes at the bottom of articles, which I have WP:REVERTed. Navigational boxes are text only boxes showing successors and predecessors. Navigational templates are larger and more complex and contain images such as flags or seals. I'm looking for more WP documentation, but I'm sure these would come into play: WP:MOSFLAG, WP:NAVBOX, WP:IBX. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:29, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Please stop adding the state flags to the Governors succession boxes. This is completely unnecessary, and i'm having to remove each one. Thismightbezach (talk) 21:10, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Succession_Box_Standardization/Guidelines

Just scroll down to the second section of that article thats named "Inclusion of Images": Images of any kind, including but not restricted to flags, coats of arms, and badges shall not be incorporated into any succession boxes for any reason, despite often being relevant to the offices tracked. Thismightbezach (talk) 21:29, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Flags in templates

Hello again. While flags are recognizable image, having both a flag and a seal or other image in templates makes them very large and unwieldy. Before adding a second image to multiple templates, like , , , I would suggest reaching out to editors on the wikiprojects or portals pages (such as Misplaced Pages:WikiProject U.S. Presidents or Misplaced Pages:WikiProject United States governors) before adding them. Misplaced Pages is a balance of being WP:BOLD vs. WP:CONCENSUS. Making multiple common edits is a way to run afoul of previously established standards. My intent is not to WP:WIKILAWYER you with pages citing policies or guidelines, but point out that thought it may not always seem that way, there is some method to the madness on wikipedia. — MrDolomite • Talk 23:27, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Wales

If you check back through the archives you will find it was agreed to include the emblem in the politics session given its association with the assembly. The issue of the information box however was problematic as if there is to be such a device then there are several candidates. No consensus emerged to have anything other than the Welsh Dragon. --Snowded 00:46, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Royal Standard of Canada

Here here and here are three different photos of my reference image. The photo you have supplied here is faded and of the Queen's Standard of England, so it's not even the same flag. I get that "in theory" the one is a component of the other, but theories aren't the primary concern of a reference encyclopedia. What matters is fact and I figure what factually was flown from the Peace Tower this Canada Day is good enough for Misplaced Pages.

The reference images clearly show the following:

  1. The yellow of the Queen's Insignia and wreath of roses is different from the yellow used in the rest of the flag.
  2. The Lions do not contain any colour other than yellow (English) and Red (Scottish).
  3. The fleurons bordering the Scottish Arms on this Canadian flag are less numerous they are on the Scottish flag.
  4. The cyan behind the Irish and French arms is saturated and high-key, as is the red and yellow of the other Arms.
  5. No black keyline is affixed to any element save for the queen's insignia.

All I did was upload a version that reflects these details. The only way my flag could be wrong is if the Peace Tower flag was "wrong". Cheers — Muckapedia (talk) 9 juil. 2010 1h53 (−4h)

You can't say the version of the flag flown from the Peace Tower on Canada Day is not correct. The Peace Tower on Canada Day establishes the standard. Your source material describes an outdated flag, whereas mine clearly describes the current flag, because that's the flag that was flown from the Peace Tower on Canada Day. I don't pretend to be an expert on flags, I just know what I saw and your colours do not match the example. Your defence is that the example is wrong, but the example cannot be wrong because it would be illegal — that the queens personal standard be flown from the buildings in which she resides is a matter of law. Simple as that. — Muckapedia (talk) 9 juil. 2010 2h33 (−4h)

Corollary: If you had confidence in your source image here why wouldn't you colour the maple leaves green? — Muckapedia (talk) 9 juil. 2010 2h38 (−4h)

Sure, I get that the parameters you followed to arrive at your design are valid. What I am saying is that you cannot invalidate the alternate set of standards established by the Peace Tower on Canada Day. Moreover, the fact that the latter was so recent, so high profile, and so intrinsically Canadian is arguably a better example of what this thing looks like, and therefore should be accurately depicted in this reference. Also, your photos are outdated, because they obviously reflect a different design from the current one (or we wouldn't be having this conversation). Why does your version have three different keyline widths on elements, when there are no keylines in your source photos? Why does your version have a vastly different Irish harp than your source photos? There are many parameters, and a lot of room for variation, clearly, which is why we should go with an established standard endorsed by a respected authority. Peace Tower on Canada Day clearly trumps anything else. Cheers — Muckapedia (talk) 9 juil. 2010 3h29 (−4h)

RNZAF roundels

Are you sure the kiwi faces left? I'm not a New Zealander but according to the banner and magazine cover on their website, it's facing to the right. VEO15 (talk) 07:57, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

I see. Because that particular roundel doesn't feature on their flag, like with some other Commonwealth countries, I think it's better to have them facing the way their website has them set. VEO15 (talk) 01:26, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Turkmenistan Standards

Hi Fry1989,

I will have it done by the end of this weekend, it looks fine except the little scroll at the bottom, I can't see what it saids. So I will leave it blank for the moment, and hopefully it can be filled out soon. Sodacan (talk) 04:41, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

If you're unwilling to discuss this matter here, here or here, I'll feel obliged to keep reverting your edits. — Blue-Haired Lawyer 23:00, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. — Blue-Haired Lawyer 07:09, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
