Fair use image

Hello! I noticed that you had Image:Jyllands-Posten Muhammad drawings.jpg shown on your user page. The image is uploaded under a fair use provision, and Misplaced Pages policy states that fair use images should not be displayed on any pages outside the main (article) namespace, including user pages. Would you mind removing the image or simply linking to it? (Add a ":" in from of the image, like this: ]) Thanks a lot! Flcelloguy (A note?) 16:20, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Hello! Just a friendly reminder to remove the image as soon as possible. It's not a matter of what the image shows; instead, it's simply that Misplaced Pages policy clearly states that showing fair use images outside of the article namespace is unacceptable. You may, however, link to the image in the way I described above. Also, I've subst: the semiprotected box you added to your user page and removed the category so that it doesn't appear in the category of semi-protected pages, which your user page isn't. (On an unrelated note, I also urge you to remove that notice because your page isn't semi-protected. If you would like the request any form of protection, you may do so at WP:RfPP.) Thanks! Thanks for removing the image! The choice to place that box in your userpage is entirely yours, although I hope you understand my reasons for removing the category and for urging you to remove the box. Thanks again! Flcelloguy (A note?) 01:01, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey there - while I can appreicate your frustration with the seemingly "never ending" stream of people that vandalize Misplaced Pages, I think it's a very bad idea to attempt to take retribution on another user. Everyone has to start out somewhere on Misplaced Pages, and many good users (even admins) started out only vandalizing articles, before they realized the value of Misplaced Pages as an information resource, and also of the community that has been built around it. Regardless of what nonsense an anonymous editor may put in an article, it is easily undone, and we should always strive to assume good faith. And if that's not possible, then at the very least we should remain civil, and not feed the trolls.

Misplaced Pages has a very (some would say very) strict policy on posting potentially private or personal details about another user, without their consent, and so I have blocked you for 24 hours. I am trying to assume good faith on your part, that an action like this will not be repeated. Indeed, you brought the event to my attention outright, so that counts for something. I have also deleted the userpage in question, since its contents were either false, or libelous; either way, it has no place on Misplaced Pages. --PeruvianLlama 05:01, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Please stop blanking pages or adding nonsense to Misplaced Pages. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. --Ryan Delaney 22:18, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
