Deftones is the name of an emo-rock band from Sacramento, California. The band consists of Chino Moreno (vocals), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Abe Cunningham (drums), Chi Cheng (bass) and the lesser known DJ Frank Delgado.

The band started with Chino, Stephen and Abe getting together as high-school friends. Chi and Frank joined later. Deftones signed to Maverick Records in 1995 and released their debut album, Adrenaline, later that year.

Around The Fur was released a few years later, and included a collaboration with Max Cavalera of Sepultura -- "Headup", a tribute to Dana Wells, who both Chino and Max had known.

In 2000, Deftones' third album, White Pony, was released. It is generally considered to be their most mature recording, including a collaboration with Maynard James Keenan of Tool.

Since then, the band have concentrated on side projects, such as Chino's Team Sleep and Abe's Phallucy.
