When disambiguating a television production (excluding films) from another book, movie or term use TV or television in combination with programming type, for example Lost (TV series), Firefly (television series) and The Insider (television show):
- series - productions that are produced under a single name, with each episode relating to the others in an understandable way, covers most episodic television
- game show - productions with contestants playing a game for for points or prizes
- miniseries is a production which tells a story in a limited number of episodes
- news show productions dedicated to disseminating current events
- talk show - production where a group of people come together to discuss various topics put forth by a talk show host
Disambiguating TV productions
If there are one or more television productions prefix with one of the following
- Country of origin: Big Brother (UK TV series) and Big Brother (USA TV series).
- Year of release: Use the original year of release Battlestar Galactica (1978 TV series) or Battlestar Galactica (2003 TV series).
- Network: Homefront (BBC TV show), though country of origin is generally preferred
Films
Television movies produced for and originally distributed by a television network are under the naming convention for films.
TV topics unrelated to programming
Articles which relate to general concepts related to television technology, terminology, and industry (but not programming) should use Article (television).
Disambiguating episodes
Add the series name in parentheses when there are other articles by the same name, e.g. Bart the Genius, but Fear of Flying (Simpsons). For Star Trek episodes, always add the series name.
