Guns n' Roses was a US-American metal band that came out of Los Angeles in 1985. The original line-up consisted of:

The name was derived from the names of two previous projects, L.A. Guns and Hollywood Roses.

The line-up as above released three albums:

and then trouble starts... Steve Adler gets kicked out for his heroin habit.

In 1990 Guns n' Roses goes back to the studio with new drummer Matt Sorum, and keyboardist Dizzy Reed. In 1991 they release Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, which debuted as #2 and #1 on the charts.

Then Izzy quits and is replaced by Gilby Clarke. Guns n' Roses go on a 28 month long world tour including the Freddy Mercury tribute. While this is happening "November Rain" is the most requested video on MTV and eventually wins a VMA for best cinematography.

In 1993 Guns n' Roses release a collection of punk covers entitled The Spaghetti Incident which, because grunge had started taking over, sold poorly. Over the next couple of years the band disintegrates and Axl becomes the sole owner of the Guns n' Roses name. In this period there is a lot of drama and the band falls appart, everyone seems to hate Axl, and Guns n' Roses go through circa four guitarists.

In 1998 Axl goes back into the studio, accompanied by;

In 1999, the band comes out with one new song, "Oh my God" which is also on the End of Days soundtrack.

They are supposed to come out with a new album called Chinese Democracy, but that has been delayed over a year and they have been dropped by Interscope.

Times have changed, Guns n' Roses is no longer the band of the moment, and metal is no longer as popular. Realistically, this album will likely do quite poorly in sales compared to other Guns n' Roses albums and most new releases, and no majour label wants to take the risk of investing money in something this risky. Chinese Democracy is 8 years too late.
