Prometheus is a planned film to be directed by Ridley Scott. The project began as a prequel to Alien, written by Jon Spaihts. However, after discussions with screenwriter Damon Lindelof, the project became an original film. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace will star as a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw, who is one of the film's five main characters. Michael Fassbender will play an android character. The studio wants either Charlize Theron or Angelina Jolie as Vickers, another co-protagonist. 'Alien' creature originator H. R. Giger will be involved with the film. Prometheus was originally set to be released on March 9, 2012, but has been pushed back to June 8, 2012.
