Simon Strelchik was the federal New Democratic Party candidate for the Canadian riding of Thornhill, in the 2006 federal election.
Over Rick Morelli's total in the 2004 election, the NDP vote total increased 25%, to 4405 votes, behind Liberal incumbent Susan Kadis and Conservative challenger Anthony Reale.
A resident of Thornhill for 19 years, Strelchik is a founding member and director of Free the Children. He is also the past chair of the York Region Health Services Youth Advisory Board, and past member of Vaughan Council's Youth Advisory Committee.
Strelchik also sought public office in 2000 and 2005 to represent Thornhill as a Ward 4 Board Trustee on the York Region District School Board.
