Welcome!
Welcome to Misplaced Pages, 777sms! I am RP459 and have been editing Misplaced Pages for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Misplaced Pages! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Misplaced Pages
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Misplaced Pages:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Edit summaries
Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Deor (talk) 16:07, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Template:Infobox software
It would be better to request this change on the talk page for the template. I see that in the past that lacking consensus for changes was a reason to not change the template. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:09, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Second request
I see it has already been mentioned above (nearly a year ago), but it wold be incredibly helpful if you would use edit summaries when editing. Your changes appear on my watchlist often and I have to review each one as no edit summary is included to advise what it is you've actually done. WP:FIES has additional information as to why this is regarded as good prectice. Thank you, --Jezebel'sPonyo 19:47, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Is it compulsory?--777sms (talk) 19:58, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's strongly encouraged. When editing in a collaborative environment, when multiple editors point out that what you are doing is against best practices and is causing more work for others, the response is generally "sure, no problem", unless of course there is a reason why you're prohibited from doing so. Is there a reason why you don't use edit summaries despite the information at WP:FIES? --Jezebel'sPonyo 20:07, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's encouraged, but it's not compulsory. And my english is not good at doing so.--777sms (talk) 20:12, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's strongly encouraged.
