The Divine Comedy: "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"; don't expect a fair hearing, or justice if or when you err. Just give what you can, while you can. If you get shafted, go fishing, because your efforts will not be appreciated, whereas if you catch a fish, you can always eat it, and that's a result.

That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe for the moral and mutual instruction of man and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently designed by nature when she made them like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their density in any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation. (Thomas Jefferson, 1813)

Misplaced Pages's got everything on it, from sharks to Barbie Dolls - it may not always be accurate, but it's all there (Eddie Izzard, 2009)

"In popular culture"

Thinking of adding a section or item? Please think carefully before doing that; this is an excellent example of what we could end up with. "In popular culture" can be a lazy excuse for adding non-notable trivia in general. Such additions at least should be sourced, and also shown to be relevant to an understanding of the topic of the article, per WP:NOT (specifically "an indiscriminate collection of information"). Too many articles tend to be dustbins for all sorts of this nonsense. An excellent example of specific advice can be found here.

I just have to give you this for all of the time and effort you put into reverting the (sadly far too frequently occuring) cases of vandalism on Bono. 2. At present, I believe that the article "cunt" is an acid test of what we are trying to achieve here, and if I can take that to Good Article status, I will be happy. I said this some time ago, but I hope I've managed to improve it. Meanwhile, I don't have the time to concentrate on it. There are more important concerns. One day, perhaps.
  3. I may have heard this elsewhere, but only on watching "Heroes of Comedy: The Goons" on TV recently did I realise where it originated; however, I make no apologies for using it, because Spike Milligan almost single-handedly created modern British comedy.
