The following is a proposed Misplaced Pages policy, guideline, or process. The proposal may still be in development, under discussion, or in the process of gathering consensus for adoption.Shortcut

The Misplaced Pages romanization of Russian is a modification of the BGN/PCGN romanization of Russian, it is used in the English Misplaced Pages and suitable for Anglophones.

Abbreviations are usually romanized with capitalization as indicated, e.g., ДШК = DShK.

List of differences between English WP and BGN/PCGN

Counter example: Ryrkaypiy (Рыркайпий), is a noun and of non-Russian origin. Also, the proper name Дми́трий is Dmitri as least as often as Dmitry.
