KFVS-TV, channel 12, is the CBS affiliate serving the Paducah, Kentucky area. The station is licensed to Cape Girardeau, Missouri and is owned by Raycom Media.
History
KFVS, whose call letters came from its former AM sister station (and whose call letter meaning refer to the FiVe States the station's signal covers), signed on the air on October 3, 1954. It is co-owned with WQTV-LP, which airs UPN programming.
KFVS is part of the Paducah–Cape Girardeau–Harrisburg TV market and covers southeastern Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and northwestern Tennessee, as well as parts of northeastern Arkansas.
The KFVS signal carries as far northward as the St. Louis eastern suburb of Belleville, Il., although taller hills between the transmitter and metropolitan St. Louis prevent the signal from reaching into the city proper.
