Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Drive-in theater (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection High traffic page (or will be) due to Google's Doodle. - M0rphzone (talk) 07:24, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    Template:Anticon (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Temporary semi-protection: A rotating anonymous IP keeps insisting on introducing bands against consensus at Template talk:Anticon, Talk:Genghis Tron, WT:ALBUM etc. The IP was already blocked once for edit warring but avoids further blocks by rotating. Requesting longer (but temporary) semi-protection. Muhandes (talk) 06:30, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    User:Breawycker (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – User request. Breawycker (talk to me!) 01:36, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    Knowledge (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: persistent IP edit warring over "get to philosophy" game. __ Just plain Bill (talk) 00:22, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    Genghis Tron (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: IP-jumping user continually adding a navbox (of suspect quality itself), without waiting for consensus. This edit-warring doesn't seem likely to stop, and the ever-changing IP address prevents simply blocking the user. I've been drawn into an edit war (and have likely violated 3RR) due to this, so protection will help until the discussion on the talk page has reached a consensus. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 00:15, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    Rosie O'Donnell (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This page seems to attract a good deal of vandalism, and is a moderately high-traffic BLP. . ~Adjwilley (talk) 23:54, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

    America's Best Dance Crew (season 7) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism - Multiple IPs and new users adding unverifiable information and/or simply vandalizing the page. WANI 23:41, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

List of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episodes (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. Have had a lot of IP addresses posting unsourced episode listings and they are not taking the hint with the constant reverting and removal. Swifty* 22:59, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

    Striptease (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Semi-protection: People adding pornographic pictures (see http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/05/co-founder-larry-sanger-wikipedia-is-virtual-porn-hub/). 149.169.180.119 (talk) 21:48, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Declined - US news reports and commentary do not dictate the policies of this project. If you think your edit is going to be controversial, the correct course of action is to start a discussion on the talk page, not request protection. Also, you do realise that semi-protection would simply stop unregistered users (including you) from editing the article, but allow most registered users to carry on? CT Cooper · talk 22:25, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
A number of IP editors (or one IP-hopping editor) have been attempting to remove semi-explicit pictures from a number of articles, including this one, against the consensus of the community that the images are appropriate. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:53, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Collège International Marie de France (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism, seeming to mainly be today. Try a few-day long semi-protection?. Hello71 (talk) 00:49, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for one day by Materialscientist. Mark Arsten (talk) 04:02, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

    User talk:Scottdelaney1067 (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – My page has been vandalized by anonymous users. Scott Delaney (talk) 00:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Declined I've blocked that IP. Your tagging of other editors is questionable at times Scott. You really need to review that. Dennis Brown - © 00:56, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Workers' Party of Korea (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Repeated vandalism by an IP user (201.x.x.x) about the “actual” political position of the party – never with a real source for that claim, in the past the user added the 'Today's news' (not even a specific article) by a biased North Korean news agency as reference (in Korean rather than its English site). He/she went on to omit that faulty reference completely and continues to add the same paragraph over and over again without any reference. 201.x.x.x is not often active, so a few days of semi-protection won't be enough. I suggest one or two months. –KAMiKAZOW (talk) 23:04, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for one month by User:Maxim. Mark Arsten (talk) 00:25, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

    Kulin Kayastha (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – There have been minimal useful anon edits to this article during the last 12 months and probably longer. Currently, there is a dynamic IP reinstating unsourced content/removing sourced. Can we try three days of semi-protection to try to get a discussion going?. Sitush (talk) 23:34, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of a week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Salvio 23:39, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Billy Graham (wrestler) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – IP sock/meatpuppets have inserted unsourced claims of the death of the subject twice within an hour. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹ 22:20, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isolated incidents do not normally justify protection, but giving three days just to be safe since its a BLP. CT Cooper · talk 22:49, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

    Angry Birds (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: IP-hopping anon is still adding an unconstructive rant. __ Just plain Bill (talk) 21:53, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. It may be a talk page, but giving the persistence I'm giving significantly longer this time. I have also hard blocked the most recent IP address. CT Cooper · talk 22:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

The Saturdays discography (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection persistent vandalism. Mr JKX (talk) 22.06, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The occasional inappropriate edit, but not enough for either full protection or semi-protection. Please revert any vandalism as it occurs, warn the relevant account or IP (see WP:WARN), and then report to WP:AIV as appropriate. Full protection disables all editing except by admins and is only done to deal with extreme levels of vandalism. CT Cooper · talk 22:36, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: This page attracts a lot of spam like this. (There's no particular reason why an unregistered editor should be changing this guideline anyway.). WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:56, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected Although I should clarify: there are plenty of reasons why an unregistered editor could be changing the guideline, and it's in no way the rationale for this protection. --slakr 21:57, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

    Brady Campaign (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Debate over the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – User:Robertmossing and User:Binksternet are having a content dispute over some somewhat controversial material. Some page protection would probably help them calm down.. Theopolisme TALK 17:24, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

You can see my little thread with User:Robertmossing here, as well. Looks like these two may also be trying to work something out on the article's talk page... Doesn't seem very successful, though. Theopolisme TALK 17:32, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Since the protection history shows many previous cases of sock-puppetry caused protections, I'm giving it substantially longer this time. CT Cooper · talk 22:11, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism / Popular page. User:82.11.129.118 removes the name of the members of the royal family without a clear reason. Keivan.f 14:43, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Declined - A static IP address for the most part, making semi-protection unnecessary. This looks like a content dispute which should be resolved by discussion, but if a block is necessary the user should be warned (currently the IPs talk page is red?) and then reported to WP:ANI or WP:AIV if appropriate. UFC 148 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotection UFC 148 and UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II are currently protected and redirect to the omnibus article 2012 in UFC events as a section of the article. UFC 148 is ready to have a stand-alone page, like all other numbered UFC events. I'm requesting unprotection so that the UFC 148 section of 2012 in UFC events can have it's own stand-alone page. Gamezero05 06:59, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) I think you should create a user-space draft before requesting unprotection of the pages and that only one of the needs to be unprotected. (The other should only retargeted.) Armbrust, B.Ed. The Undertaker 20–0 08:56, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Note: I agree with Armbrust and would suggest contacting Scottywong when it is ready. If you bring it here, we will still want to talk to him before unprotecting anyway. He can unprotect without coming here since it is his protection. If he won't and you disagree, then coming here is fine, but you should always give the protecting admin the first opportunity to unprotect first. Dennis Brown - © 12:25, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
This article was deleted less than a month ago at AfD. I would suggest writing a draft of the article in your userspace, and then filing a request at WP:DRV and referencing your draft. Otherwise, the protection will expire on the day the event takes place. -Scottywong| babble _ 13:56, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
