- You call that a personal attack? That's a personal attack. 188.29.101.73 (talk) 08:58, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
I treat others in the way they treat me, which is usually very pleasant. If that is a reflection of the way he has treated and spoken about me over the years then its very mild and I could think of something a lot harsher to say. Anyway, email me Pumpkin. If you think I am wrong, you be the judge of his mental age and attitude by viewing this and this. I rest my case. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:03, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Dr. B: I recognize the name but recall no details at all about the user. Ched is right, you need to rethink your approach here. PumpkinSky talk 09:52, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- I would agree that a different approach to a problematic editor is well-advised. I don't know that editor, but I definitely have sometimes had some very strong emotions about editors who have troubled me or angered me in various ways. However, unless they met me in real life and done me wrong in real life, the sort of commentary like the diff given above is nothing more than vitriol; you have no idea who the person is IRL, and it really isn't ours to judge that. We can be angry about their on-wiki behavior (I personally have slipped up and in anger called various people a troll or a jackass, certainly, and even that much may have been something that I should not have contributed to wikipedia's community, no matter how pissed I was at the individual - and I WAS pissed!), and I have privately speculated about their inherent human nature, but we need to stop short of commentary on their actual nature and value as a human being. We have no idea if someone is "vile" or if they are merely a lonely individual with poor social skills who doesn't always think before hitting "save." They might think WE are the "vile" ones and be convinced in their own mind that they are exorcising us or something. Montanabw 16:04, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- Mellow, folks. EricBarbour's a troll, and Dr. Blofeld's a damn fine participant here. Keep things in perspective. Br'er Rabbit (talk) (Jack;) 16:14, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I've had WQAs and ANIs filed on me for far less (though I've been universally acquitted as well). No matter the problem, saying someone is a "vile human being" is an expression of vitriol that, however justified the anger and how bad the behavior was, should be viewed as hyperbole said to friends over a beer, not on a public WP talk page, that's all. For all we know, the other user is just a frustrated, lonely guy who lives in his mom's basement. That's not vile, it's just sad and if he's mean to boot, then also problematic, but pouring gas on the fire doesn't solve the problem (a swift block in the ass does, however, and is an underutilized option for trolls). I can think a user is crazy/evil/vindictive/horrible and tell all my friends about it, but to go soliciting input on the inherently evil nature of someone is not helpful when the problem is their on-wiki behavior. If they'd been doing real harm to me in real life, like stalking, threatening (and on-wiki, that's blockable!), hurting my pets or family, whatever, then maybe. Montanabw 16:29, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Helena HD
It's nowhere near the headache that you think it is. Mount Helena is a different district (see the L&C County list and the GeoGroupTemplate map) from the others, so you can simply ignore it. Meanwhile, the boundary increases are boundary increases; we generally accomodate these by merging the infoboxes so that it contains relevant information for all increases/decreases as well as the original, but in a way that distinguishes original from increase and increase from increase. It's too hard to explain easily, but it's easy to understand when you look at it, so I just went ahead and merged the infoboxes myself. When you create the page, don't worry about attributing me; just copy/paste the page into mainspace if you want. Nyttend (talk) 21:50, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Paralympic hooks
No problem. While I asked for them to be saved, I'm not particularly fussed and won't complain if they get used. :) (Today's plan is to review a few DYK hooks, hopefully at least ten.) --LauraHale (talk) 20:51, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Cool. People that want certain dates should save them in a holding area. Leaving them in the main area causes too much confusion. I think yours have been moved to such a place now. PumpkinSky talk 20:57, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Given that I was trying to get all the 2012 female Australian Olympians and the 2012 Australian Paralympians to DYK, it created a bit of a log jam. It doesn't bother me if prep builders move them around as a result. :) I know some people complain loudly about that or not getting their pics but I'm generally not doing that. :) --LauraHale (talk) 23:32, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Need An Opinion
Hey PumpkinSky, need your opinion on something. An IP user posted this earlier on the Stephens City, Virginia page. It was a blurb about a person by the name of Virgil E. Watson, who was the first African American to serve on the Stephens City Town Council. I originally reverted the edit (and one after by the same user) due to lack of sources. After a Google search (with help from a non-Wiki friend), I found a source, oddly enough in federal lawsuit, Frederick County, Virginia v. Reno & Lee. Mr. Watson's name can by found on page 4 of 11, under number 14.
Once I had the source, I began to think...it's this notable? Since this person served on the Town Council from '94 to '98 and all the information on the "Government" section is current, where would I put it, the "History" section perhaps? So, I come to you for your opinion. What do I do here? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:23, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'd put it in history section since the government section is all current. I think it is worth mentioning.PumpkinSky talk 09:50, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry I didn't get back to you on this until today. Had a looong day yesterday, then there was a crash and burn sleep, then today was just as bad, finally getting relaxing time now. :) Anywho, how would this sound:
- Virgil E. Watson was the first African American to serve on the Stephens City Town Council. Watson served for one term from July 1, 1994 until June 30, 1998.
- Of course, after each sentence, it would be following by the PDF source. The only problem is the source doesn't back up the exact dates, just 1994 to 1998. I checked the Virginia State Board of Elections website, but came up empty as their website only goes back to 2007 on local election results. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 02:26, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds fine. Just use the dates the sources say.PumpkinSky talk 02:35, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- So have it read...
- Virgil E. Watson was the first African American to serve on the Stephens City Town Council. Watson served for one term from 1994 until 1998.
- ...at least until another source comes along to confirm the exact dates? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:14, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- I did a little tinkering with the sentence and added it here. How does it look? Should I merge it into another paragraph or is just a two sentence paragraph fine? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:27, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds fine. Just use the dates the sources say.PumpkinSky talk 02:35, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- You don't to put the same ref twice with only two sentences. Just have one at the end. Normally I'd say merge this short paragraph into another but the other two are different topics so it's a toss up. PumpkinSky talk 09:53, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's where I am running into a problem too. A short paragraph isn't a good thing on an FA article. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 10:07, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

- I made a very minor change to the article. In the one image it speaks of the "Jewish calendar", but it is called the Hebrew calendar. I also moved that image into the next paragraph so it wasn't mashing the text between the image and the infobox. I would recommend the images be reduced to 200px. Otherwise, no text in the article was changed. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:08, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

GA for Impulse Control Disorder
Hello! A couple of weeks ago you helped me out for the DYK of the Phantosmia article...so here I am again...looking for some help if possible ... hope it's fine? :) I have elaborated the article on Impulse control disorder a couple of days ago and was hoping to apply for a Good Article status. It's actually for a class that's ending this week and I've no clue how to do it. Gerda's busy but she did try to explain, only that I would need a little more coaching if possible? could you help me out please? Regards Zoono92 (talk) 06:57, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sure. Start with putting at least one ref in every paragraph, this is a killer at GA and above. Since a GAR is up to only one person what they look for varies widely, so this next one may not matter at GAR too much, but it could and will definitely matter at FA level: format the refs consistently/why are you not using cite templates (this is why your DOIs are not linking)/etc. PumpkinSky talk 10:08, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh a Big Thank you for your advice Pumpkinsky! appreciate it a lot :)...did some corrections, some more to do, but I applied :) You are awesome! really! Zoono92 (talk) 05:16, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

DYK for job attitude
Greetings I saw you approved stimulus modality and was wondering if you can look over the nomination for Job attitude. This nomination was pending before the request for stimulus modality. So I was wondering if you can glance it please. Thanks. Here is the link. Khyati Gupta (talk) 01:09, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- That's too convoluted for me. You're best bet is to post a request at WT:DYK. PumpkinSky talk 01:21, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- However, all of the other admins are OK with the article. They cant recommend it because they fixed stuff to it. All of the errors are fixed and there is no copyediting at all. The request for this article has already been posted on the WT:DYK however people are not taking action. My class is ending for the APS project and this being in the DYK can really help out alot of things on my campus. Khyati Gupta (talk) 01:25, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Main Page appearance
Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of Eagle Scouts know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on August 20, 2012. You can view the TFL blurb at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured list/August 20, 2012. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Misplaced Pages talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Misplaced Pages doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 22:52, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program division of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Since it was first awarded to Arthur Eldred (pictured) on August 21, 1912, Eagle Scout has been earned by more than two million young men. As of 2012, requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges, demonstrating Scout Spirit, leadership, service and performing an Eagle Scout Service Project. Eagle Scouts are presented both a medal and badge that visibly recognize the accomplishments of the Scout. Eagle Palms are a further recognition, awarded for completing additional tenure, leadership and merit badge requirements. The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award (DESA) is bestowed to Eagle Scouts for nationally renowned distinguished service in their profession and to the community for a period of at least 25 years after earning the Eagle Scout rank. The National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Scout Award is bestowed to Eagle Scouts who have distinguished themselves at a local-to-regional level or who have not yet met the 25 year tenure requirement to be considered for a DESA.
