	He served in ] for a short period between 27.02.1968-22.05.1968 as ambassador of the ] to ] before being transferred to ], ] where he served from January 28, 1969, to December 16, 1971.<ref>http://islamabad.be.mfa.gov.tr/MissionChiefHistory.aspx</ref><ref>. Retrieved 3 December 2007.</ref>

	On February 6, 1980, while serving as ambassador to ] in ], he was targeted by the Armenian militant organization ]. He was shot at, but escaped with minor wounds. An ] named Max Klindjian, was subsequently arrested in ], ] and returned to Switzerland for trial; he was sentenced as an accessory to two years of prison. The JCAG claimed credit for the attack.

	He received the "Distinguished Service Award" conferred by the ] in the year 2001.
