Plot

The Beginning

Ram's (Ram Kapoor) younger step sister, Nataasha (Sumona Chakravarti) fall in love with Priya's (Sakshi Tanwar) younger brother Kartik (Mohit Malhotra), Their marriage has been finalized by their family, But Ram-Priya's family want Priya and Ram first get married, After a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings, destiny contrives both to get married, Priya and Ram finally realise that they have fallen in love and consummate their marriage and their relationship blossoms. Priya surprises Ram with a statue of his late father while Ram transfers his pharmaceutical business property in the name of Priya.

But Ram's step-mother Niharika (Eva Grover) has other plans to get Priya out of the house by creating misunderstandings between Ram and Priya, as Ram was favouring Priya before her. Priya, curious about Niharika's past, ultimately finds out that Niharika was earlier married to a doctor named Dr. Jayesh Karekar (Amit Bhalla) and they had kids, Siddhanth (Mahesh Shetty) and Ishika (Kajal Pisal). But, as she wanted more money she tricked Ram's father into marrying her and divorced Dr. Jayesh Karekar. Priya finds out Dr. Jayesh, who advises Priya to go away from Ram's life and his family, as only then she would be able to expose Niharika's dark ways and Priya heeds his advice.

Events force Niharika to bring Priya back home and she asks Priya to somehow get herself rid of Ram. Just before revealing the truth, Priya is falsely accused in a case of making poisonous medicines by Siddhanth. She is put behind bars for the next 14 years, after Ayesha (Chahat Khanna) gives a statement against her, as Ayesha has fallen in love with Siddhanth. Later, Ayesha gets to know that she has been cheated by him, but it was too late by then. Siddhanth plans to kill Ram by a car accident. Niharka, fearing about Ram's death turns emotional and saves Ram by getting in his car, meets with an accident and dies. Before her death she reveals every truth of her life, leaving Ram shocked.

Priya meets with a disaster in the coming days. During the mess she is given the responsibility of a young girl named Raina, by her dying mother, Jyoti Malhotra (Priya Marathe). Priya and Raina survive the disaster but Jyoti dies. The Kapoors and Sharmas unknown about Priya's survival assume her to be dead. Priya plans to leave Dubai and go away from Ram's life, as this may put him out of all the worries and he may move on. Priya takes Raina to her family in Dubai, where she met Rajat Kapur (Sameer Kochhar). After that she becomes aware that she is pregnant. However Priya's parents came to know that she was pregnant after getting her medical check-up reports from Police. But they didn't reveal it to Ram as he was already in shock because of Priya's death. She finds a job for herself to support her coming baby and life and supports Rajat's step-daughter Kady (Arshima Thapar)

Ek Nayi Shuruwat

The story takes a five-year leap. In these years Rajat Kapur (Samir Kochhar), the caretaker of Raina has given Priya a bookshop in a mall on rent, where she sells book. Priya is happy with her five-year-old daughter, Peehu (Amrita Mukherjee) who has same qualities as her father Ram, and Priya thinks her life to be as good as it used to be five years ago. After Priya's so-assumed-death, Priya's mother, Shipra (Renuka Israni) was sent to stay with Ayesha and since then she lives with her and her personality has changed a lot too. Ayesha lives in Ram's house and has become a top model. After Priya's so-assumed-death Ram married Ayesha to do her justice, as Ayesha was left behind with her and Sid's son, who was named Khush (Neev Ritesh Jain). Ram is Rajat's friend but Rajat is unaware of Priya's past and Priya has changed her name to Pooja Sharma (Sakshi Tanwar). Rajat is also a writer with the pen name of Anjaan.

Ram meets Peehu, unaware that he is her father and Peehu has no knowledge that who is her father. In the small time they come close to each other. Priya gets to know it and regrets. She plans to reunite with Ram but steps back after she gets to know about his marriage with Ayesha. However Ayesha gets to know that Priya is alive but keeps shut for the sake of living a peaceful life. While, on the other hand Rajat slowly evolves feelings for Priya (or Pooja) while Priya has none for him.

Priya has to go to Mumbai, after five years, as Kadambari/Kady has fled there. But as fate had, there she ends up meeting Ram. Finally, the Sharmas and the Kapoors get to know that Priya is alive but a series of misunderstandings happen with Ram asking for Peehu's custody. Priya frightened with her separation from Peehu fights the case alongside Rajat while she wants Peehu to get both parents' love. But it is because of Peehu that they keep on coming close to each other, starting from her school admission to other jobs related to her. While on the other hand Shipra and Ayesha plan to separate Priya and Ram and let Priya live with Rajat, which annoys both Priya and Rajat, as Rajat does not want to steal her wishes any more knowing what she wants, that is, a peaceful life with Ram and Peehu.

Soon later Priya opens up a new book-cafe in partnership with Rajat, as it may help Priya win Peehu's custody. At the same time Ram starts realizing that Priya cares for him, while Priya gets to know that Ram has changed nothing in his lifestyle in the past five years, starting from their bedroom which she decorated and so on. Ram also starts feeling jealous for Rajat, as he is very fit and handsome and he is a dream boy of every woman and also as Priya might start loving him. ram appoints a dietician named shanaya and trainer to reduce some weight.

In a crossover episode of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kya Huaa Tera Vaada Anushka (Mauli Ganguly) comes and aims her gun at Priya. Rajat comes to save her and says that he is doing so because he loves Priya. Ram comes and tries to take the gun from Anushka's hand to save Priya and in course of doing so he got hurt himself. Priya takes Ram to the hospital. Neha (Tarana Raja Kapoor) and Vikram (Jai Kalra) meet Priya in the hospital. Priya says that she is responsible for Ram's condition because Anushka initially pointed her gun on her and while saving her Ram got hurt.Doctor says that Ram is a good now and he needs to take a day's rest. But Ram insists that he needs to go the Court for custody case the next day.
