Thomas Puskailer: 27 December 2012
Hi Jim, I have made some changes with your explanations, http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Abbie_Guilding/sandbox. I hope you can put the page back online. I will slowly add more info about Thomas but need to know if this is ok now, thank you, best wishes, Abbie Abbie Guilding (talk) 01:50, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Sandbox the Wordbee entry
Hi Jim,
It was done in a single edit... on Misplaced Pages. I did quite a few edits outside of Misplaced Pages...
While I disagree about the article sounding promotional, I can rectify the other issues. There are some other links around the web that I didn't find before, like this one: , that prove notability (all the other tech providers on that list probably have pages!) They also won a CeBIT award . But so, can you stick it in a sandbox or something so I can work on it? And then can you pass/fail for me or something?
Thanks Jim,

Re: Deletion on Knightwatchers
Hi Jimfbleak. Would you mind being kind enough to explain your CSD deletion of Knightwatchers please? It'd already been declined for CSD A7, as A7 does not apply to and cannot be used for, books. G11 covers that if it's needed - also, since I was working on it, to bring it to standard, would you be kind enough to move the entire piece into my userspace since you deleted it? CSD being declined, prod being removed, the next step should have been AFD, am I right? :) Fish 11:20, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Jim, I echo BarkingFish's concern. CSD A7 criteria is very specific about what it includes. "Spam" and "books" arn't listed. Nor does it qualify as CSD G11 which requires that it is entirely promotional which it is not. I'd suggest letting it fall back to WP:AFD.--v/r - TP 16:57, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Thomas Puskailer: 28 December 2012
Hi Jim, thank you for your help, made all the changes, added more sources, and slowly working further on the page. Could you move the page back to the article space as I cannot find the "move" button to put it back, thank you, best wishes Abbie Abbie Guilding (talk) 02:02, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Phedina, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Pemba and Transvaal (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thomas Puskailer: 30 December 2012
Hi Jim, thank you for the instructions. Needing now a bit help with the "move". I have found the button next to the "View history". I went on the "move page" and put in next to " To new title": I clicked on "Misplaced Pages" and entered the name "Thomas Puskailer". In reason I added: Instructed to do so by a member of the wikipedia advisory team who has been assisting me setting up this page, after I supplied all the adequate verifiable sources he required. Let me know if this was the correct thing to do to get the page back on wikipedia. here is the link of entering the details: http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Special:MovePage&action=submit. If I need to enter other details let me also know. Thank you so much for your help, best wishes Abbie Abbie Guilding (talk) 14:38, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Starling
I found some cut and paste copyright violations which I removed from the Introduced populations, North America section. The starling has been tremendously successful over there and the whole section is very negative. I haven't looked at all the sources but the section does not mention the good done by the birds as insectivores eating agricultural pests. I feel like leaping to their defence, as I bet they replace a lot of pesticides which would need to be used to eradicate the vast millions of leather jackets, beetle grubs, fly larvae, ants etc. that they consume. Deletion
Hi. I am slightly confused about this deletion. Could you clarify how it qualifies for G7, given that the user who tagged it is not the one who started the page? Nor do they appear to be alternate accounts: their user pages even state that they live in different countries. It Is Me Here 20:27, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

RE: deleting PsychJava
Jim: I don't fully understand why you deleted PsychJava. I modeled it after Psychtoolbox for MATLAB and there is simply no difference between PsychJava and the Psychtoolbox page. Please clarify why you continue to delete. I am not advertising anything. This is not a business. It is software available for academic researchers, as is Psychtoolbox for MATLAB. reising1 (talk) 02:10, 01 January 2013 (UTC)

deleting of ]
Jim: I see that you deleted the article I was drafting on the National Collaborative for Women's History Sites--I rec'd an earlier message that there was some issue re: copyrighted material, but when I went to work on this today, the draft is gone, so I can't even look into what the issue might be. Is there a time limit to how quickly a person must act on these messages, and then the page is deleted? It being the holidays, I really haven't had a chance to look at this again until today, but now it seems to be gone? Mrmedit (talk) 15:32, 1 January 2013 (UTC)mrmedit
I rec'd your reply -- and think instead of starting "from scratch" as you have propose (well, required, I think? The draft is gone, yes?), I may have concluded that Misplaced Pages is just not for me. I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm annoyed, but I definitely am frustrated. This process is just too abrupt and unhelpful. With the draft deleted I can't learn at all from your comments. I don't know what you mean by copyrighted material because I can no longer see the prose I'd drafted (is it a quoted mission statement? something else? I have no idea). Since I can no longer see the prose or references, I also can't learn from or see how to address your comment about moving them "inline." And I'm especially puzzled by your assessment that the article was too promotional--to draft it I used as models entries for other humanities non-profits, and this very-short entry is identical to them in content and format, with the presentation of the mission up-top followed by a brief history. But without references to specific passages, and the article now deleted, I can't see or guess what distinction you are drawing there, either, between this article and others of a similar nature. I don't see a point in starting over if draft articles can be deleted without warning--I guess I should have done the drafting on my hard-drive (my fault--I thought that this process allowed authors to keep text as they are worked on and improved). I started this entry because I thought I'd like to learn this process and in time contribute more, but this deletion is a real setback (there's little point in starting afresh if I don't completely understand your comments and it could just suddenly happen again), and I'm not sure I'll continue. It's fine. It was a fairly brief experiment and I did learn from it. Maybe I'll come back in the future when I have more time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmedit (talk • contribs) 17:33, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for your reply to the above--I appreciate it--will look later today. Mrmedit (talk) 15:04, 2 January 2013 (UTC)mrmedit
OK, Jim--would you mind taking another look? I went back and checked to see that the content and tone matched other comparable entries (for the Canadian Historical Association, the National Council on Public History, Society for the History of Technology, etc) and I think it does (though I welcome any suggestions for edits on this front). On the references, I added "inline" notes to support the founding date, and a citation for the mission statement quotation. I don't find any copyrighted material here aside from the now-footnoted mission statement (I searched each sentence/long phrase on google). I hope I'm not exhausting your patience, but does this look better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmedit (talk • contribs) 19:15, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry -- I didn't understand where I was supposed to move it to; thought I was supposed to resubmit (see, I really am a newbie). You're saying at this point I can just post it? Which selection is correct from that drop-down menu, and can I still do that somehow now? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmedit (talk • contribs) 20:25, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi again-- OK, I hope this is it, if you don't spot anything else obvious. I have added three cites to support the refs to the OAH, NPS and NWHP, and rearranged the prose to improve the flow and ensure that the refs work harder to support statements made. I also added another title to the "Further Reading" list. On the membership # and financial info, I again reviewed entries for a number of comparable organizations (the Society for the History of Technology; Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations; Society of Architectural Historians; Vernacular Architecture Forum; The Association for the Study of African American Life and History; Southern Historical Association, National Council on Public History, and the North American Society for Oceanic History) and don't find that it's at all typical to include this kind of information -- the only one I found that included specific financial data was The American Association for State and Local History, and those #s are from 2009. I wouldn’t think Misplaced Pages would want this kind of quickly-dated, ephemeral content in an entry, and also keeping it updated accurately would mean that the organization’s treasurer would have to do the updating (wouldn't it?), which I wouldn’t think squares with policy. I can contact the organization to request their 2011 info and add it in, but this seems at odds with instructions I've read elsewhere (how, for instance, would such figures be documented with a citation?).
Honestly, this looks to me very, very similar to other entries of comparable nonprofits (I know that having flawed entries elsewhere online doesn't justify adding new flawed entries, but at the same time, there has to a standard that is at least somewhat similar across submissions) -- and in many cases, at least in terms of the ones I checked, much better in terms of the # of cites and references. I don't want to upload until you believe I have met Misplaced Pages's standards; let me know if it's time, and again, many thanks for the patience and guidance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmedit (talk • contribs) 18:33, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi Jim,
I had created a page for an upcoming bollyowod movie called 'Main Rony Aur Jony'. http://en.wikipedia.org/Main_Rony_Aur_Jony
You have deleted it for the following reason: (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content): not even released yet, no refs)
As I had mentioned in the article, it is a bollywood movie - one of the world's largest and prominent movie industry. It will be launching this month. It doesn't make sense deleting the page just because the movie hasn't yet been released. Here is a link to the Misplaced Pages entry for Iron Man 3 movie, which will be released on April, 2013. http://en.wikipedia.org/Iron_Man_3
I had posted reference links to the movie's official website and facebook page and also to certain prominent trade websites which cover bollywood movies.
I request you to revoke the page deletion.
Regards Iampriteshdesai (talk) 06:06, 3 January 2013 (UTC) It was just the first version of the article. Most of the cast has an existing article on wikipedia and on IMDB - 'Priyanshu Chatterjee' - http://en.wikipedia.org/Priyanshu_Chatterjee 'Sandali Sinha' - http://en.wikipedia.org/Sandali_Sinha 'Sharat Saxena' - http://en.wikipedia.org/Sharat_Saxena 'Rakesh Bedi' - http://en.wikipedia.org/Rakesh_Bedi
and many more.
There are several popular websites talking about the movie - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/videos/movies/Main-Rony-Aur-Jony-Trailer/videoshow/17462008.cms http://www.desimartini.com/movies/main-rony-aur-jony/md2748.htm www.bollywoodhungama.com/moviemicro/cast/id/505696
The point of creating this article is to document an important cultural film.
I request you to allow the creation of the article so that all this valuable information can be recorded and studied.

Thank you. Please post the deleted article. I'd like to add new info. Where should I post the new article? 120.60.5.219 (talk) 12:09, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Johnny Miller (musician)
I really don't think this article merited a speedy, certaily not on your terms. Tagging, certainly. The opinions on him were inline sourced, I can't see what it was unambiguously advertising, & references could have been addded. Notability is another issue. Note that I'm not the article creator, I just saw it come up on new pages & did a few tweaks.TheLongTone (talk) 18:42, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Johnny Miller, jazz bassist
John “Johnny” Miller was a jazz musician who served as bassist for the King Cole Trio, the band led by pianist-singer Nat “King” Cole during the 1940’s. Miller, who was born on February 24, 1915 in Pasadena, California, played with the big band of Cee Pee Johnson and the Eddie Beal Trio. He became a member of the Cole Trio in October 1942, joining with Cole and guitarist Oscar Moore, about a year and half before it rose to national prominence with its first major hit record on Capitol Records, “Straighten Up and Fly Right.” Biographer James Haskins writes in his book, Nat King Cole, that Miller had “driving style” that gave the trio a secure rhythmic base. Author Leslie Gourse in her book, Unforgettable: The Life And Mystique Of Nat King Cole, quotes a Down Beat reviewer that “his selection of notes is unerring. His tone and technique are the best among the best. The least sung member of the trio is not the least one musically.” Music critic Will Friedwald, who calls the Moore-Miller edition of the King Cole Trio the greatest, writes in his comments of the Mosaic Records boxset, “The Complete Capitol Recordings Of The King Cole Trio, that “solid, supportive and sleek, Miller was a stellar player on his instrument at a time when it was in transition, from the strictly tuba-style timekeeping functions to the soloing, frontline position it would later hold thanks to Jimmy Blanton and his disciples Oscar Pettiford, Ray Brown and Charles Mingus. Miller stood to Blanton where Moore stood to (Charlie) Christian; the unique instrumentation of the KC3 not only giving him the opportunity but forcing him to work extensively in both directions.” One of his outstanding solos was “Jumpin’ At Capitol” recorded at the trio’s first session with Capitol Records on November 30, 1943. Of him, Dave Dexter, who produced Capitol’s “The History Of Jazz Series, on which “Jumpin’ At Capitol” was included on “This Modern Age,” Volume 4 in the series, that “Miller, the unpublicized bassist is qualified to work with the best.” Miller during his tenure with the trio was a sideman to or with such luminaries as Harry “Sweets” Edison, Charlie Shavers, J. J. Johnson, Benny Carter, Willie Smith, Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Illinois Jacquet, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Red Norvo, Les Paul, Louie Bellson, Buddy Rich, Anita O’Day, Ida James, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine, Pearl Bailey, the Dinning Sisters, June Christy and Woody Herman. Friedwald also writes with regard to Miller’s playing on two tunes from the trio’s session on May 23, 1945, “I Thought You Ought To Know” and “It Only Happens Once,” with both Cole and Moore trying to play it as cool as possible, much of the melodic responsibility is left in Miller’s capable hands, helping to create a mood that’s musically tranquil yet emotionally urgent.” Another one of Miller’s great accompaniments and solos is “In The Cool Of The Evening,” the B side of “The Christmas Song,” the instrumental composed by Cole, that was released in November 1946 on Capitol Records 311.
After leaving the King Cole Trio, Miller joined Moore in his older brother’s band, Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers. Later, he also played with pianist-singer Charles Brown and pianist-singer-band leader Ray Charles.
