Joshua Ryan Hutcherson (born October 12, 1992) is an American film and television actor.
Biography
Personal life
Hutcherson was born in Union, Kentucky to Michelle and Chris Hutcherson; he has a younger brother, Connor, as well as several pets, including two dogs, Baxter and Diesel, two cats, Jell-O and Paws, and a turtle. Hutcherson has wanted to be an actor since he was four years old, but had only began auditioning for roles in 2002, after a successful screen test. He had previously attended New Haven Elementary School.
Career
Hutcherson's first role was in the 2002 made-for-television film, House Blend; in the same year, he appeared in an episode of ER. In 2003, he played the lead role in the comedy Miracle Dogs, which was released directly-to-video, starred opposite Peter Falk and Timothy Daly in the made-for-television film, Wilder Days, and had a minor role in the well-reviewed independent film, American Splendor. He is currently in love with Claire.
In 2005, Hutcherson appeared in several major Hollywood films. He had a minor role in the Will Ferrell vehicle Kicking & Screaming (which was released in May), voiced Markl in the animated film Howl's Moving Castle (June), and played the lead roles in Little Manhattan (September) and Zathura, which was released in November to positive reviews. Hutcherson's latest role is in the comedy RV, playing the son of Robin Williams's character; the film was released on April 28, 2006. Hutcherson next plays the main character in Firehouse Dog, which will be released later in 2006, and has recently completed filming on Bridge to Terabithia, a fantasy film based on the novel of the same same, currently scheduled for release on February 16, 2007; he plays the lead role of Jesse Aaron in the film.
Hutcherson has recently signed on to star in Journey 3-D, a new film version of Journey to the Center of the Earth, opposite Brendan Fraser. Filming will begin in Montreal on June 10th, 2006.
