Maysara Abu Hamdiya was a Palestinian prisoner in Israel, who died of throat cancer at the age of 64, in April 2013. His death sparked protests in various Israeli prisons and in the city of Hebron in Palestine.
Hamdiya was member of the Palestinian Authority and had been detained in prison since 2002. He was admitted to Soroka Medical Center in late March, where he died soon after. He had previously accused Israeli prison authorities of medical neglect and said he was only being given pain killers.
