::The copyright to the film does ''not'' protect a ] or photo, as they are two different "types" of copyright, each requiring a separate registration. A photo is of type "Visual art," whereas the film is a "Motion Picture", as indicated by the registration details above. The copyright office lists the which explains that each requires a separate copyright. When searching for copyrights, it's simple to first select by , to save time.

::The copyright office details for photos is explained . And the requirement and limitations for different "types" of copyrights is explained more generally in . Among the steps to register a copyright: "complete the form for the type of work you are registering," and they state that "Informational circulars about the types of applications and current registration are available on the Copyright Office website." Note that different fees and "deposit requirements exist for many types of works," with "motion pictures" as one "type." Other types are "motion pictures, sound recordings, musical compositions, literary works, computer programs (including videogames), and advertising or marketing photographs."

::I'm not sure how many of the details about the "types" of copyright you're aware of, but since other publicity photos have previously been deleted based on the fact that you found the "motion picture" had a copyright, I think it's a good idea to clarify that they are two ''separate'' copyrights and ''don't'' overlap, as your motion picture registration implies. very sorry, I see now your Talk page. I'm sorry, I was so extremely upset at the removal of an ok image. It was'nt you, so I'm extra sorry, though you did assign it its death warrant. Michael "Mike" Todd

Hi, I noticed that you posted a comment about early photos of Mike Todd and I was wondering if you know if the personal papers of Michael Todd re: his film work are held by an archive. Thanks. Tattered demalion (talk) 20:06, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello. I hope I am posting this at the right place. I am new here so PLEASE bear with me. On the WCFL (AM) page, you edited my edit saying Jerry G. Bishop should be in parenthesis because in this article all deceased people are. I got confused because Jim Stagg is NOT in parenthesis. Am I missing something? Thanks for all your hard work. THESOUND1 (talk) 14:15, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for responding so fast, but now I'm even more confused. The parenthesis I had removed were around Jerry G. Bishop's NAME, not b/d years. Please talk to me. Thanks again! THESOUND1 (talk) 14:37, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Please help even more now!!! I'm reading all I can on the Wiki rules (like I said, I'm new), but I have a plethora of 1967-1968 inside information on WCFL from a person who WAS THERE IN THE STATION. How do I get it to be "reliable"? It is biographical, not self-serving, HISTORICAL, and pinpoint accurate observations by an ON-AIR JOURNALIST WHO WAS THERE about events and people at 'CFL, many of whom are now deceased. There is NO derogatory information in any of it. Are radio or TV airchecks from the time in question considered reliable references, or is it only print media? Is everything I write to be undone? Thanks for your patience with me. THESOUND1 (talk) 06:06, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

We need to be able to verify the text in all articles, first of all, and that needs to be done by being able to cite reliable sources that readers can either access online or be able to locate in places like libraries. (Think microfilm for old newspaper copies. etc.) We can't keep information like "Mr. X. is a wife beater" (whether he's living or dead), without reliable proof that Mr. X. is one.

Take a look at this Talk:WMAQ (AM). Rich Samuels spent many, many hours preserving the history of WMAQ radio and TV and was the station's unofficial historian. Rich continued his work even after he no longer worked at the station. Shortly before the stations moved from the Merchandise Mart, someone gave him a copy of Tom Gootee's history of WMAQ from 1922 to 1935. It was in a drawer in the promotional department and was going to hit the trash, but for someone saving it for Rich.

The problem is that nobody knows who Tom Gootee was; it's certain he worked at WMAQ Radio and had written the history as an employee because of the great detail his work provides. What I'm doing now is going through the online publications at American Radio History, to give credence to what Gootee had written, as I find the station used a lot of his material in their ads, etc.

Am going to suggest you visit Misplaced Pages:Teahouse so you can learn more about reliable sources--what's considered to be a reliable source that can be used here. We hope (talk) 14:19, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Got it , thanks! I will work on finding hard published records. THESOUND1 (talk) 17:29, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Cheri Bustos Picture

Greetings, what do I need to do to get the pic of Cheri Bustos approved? I am volunteering on her campaign. This picture is included in her media kit. Tell me the right code to use, name the hoops I have to jump through, and I'll jump through them. Specifics would be really helpful! Thanks!! Also, can you explain why when the picture was removed earlier, there was no citation or notation on the page's edit history related to this change, and also, why all of my other edits were also reverted when the picture was taken down? I made and saved many edits prior to adding the picture, yet all edits were reverted. Thanks. First down comets (talk)

Thanks for the fast reply. My edit to your page was only a joke. Thanks for your sense of humor. It's frustrating that I know the person whose picture I am requesting be added to her wiki page, and the picture is in her media kit, and yet I still have no idea how to make a ticket. Too confusing. Too many rules. But rules are necessary or abuse will undoubtedly occur. Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by First down comets (talk The last part you sent me is super helpful! Very concrete. Just what I needed. THANKS! First down comets (talk)

Another image request

Anything for Allan Arbus possibly? – Connormah (talk) 01:12, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! Another one if I may - Leonard Stone could use an image. Could this possibly work? – Connormah (talk) 01:51, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
That's great! Thanks! – Connormah (talk) 05:30, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Hope you're having a great holiday season. Another one for you if you don't mind though - Joan Fontaine's lead image was recently deleted - is there any chance that there may be any more studio shots waiting to be dug up? – Connormah (talk) 21:28, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll review them and add one as the lead image when I get the chance! Another one, is there anything half-decent for John Stephenson, Dewey Martin, Booth Colman and/or Dina Merrill? – Connormah (talk) 08:38, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
That's awesome, thanks! Another question for you - I did a bit of searching on eBay for a photo of Sam Donaldson - would any of the following links be acceptable? Thanks. – Connormah (talk) 21:38, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
Another image hunt request if you have the time, in an entirely different arena (pardon the pun) - could you do a surf of eBay etc. for any photos of hockey players Henri Richard and Red Kelly that may be acceptable to use? – Connormah (talk) 07:31, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
That's great! Thanks! – Connormah (talk) 03:15, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
So if I assume correctly, should all of the `1957 Topps cards be fair game? eg. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Topps-34-PSA-6-Alex-Delvecchio-/141173199407?pt=US_Hockey_Trading_Cards&hash=item20de94122f], etc. (pardon the pun again) – Connormah (talk) 03:19, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll take a look! On another hand, could you maybe take a look at George Armstrong (ice hockey) for me? Doesn't seem to be much out there and I'm not too sure and would prefer to not mess anything up! As well, let me know if you can dig anything up re:team pics of Richard. Thanks! – Connormah (talk) 16:49, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks again. Yet another question, I've done some poking around for an image of Leo Reise (another hockey player) and find the following candidates: - are any useable? – Connormah (talk) 18:23, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
So Stefan2 was kind enough to leave a reply on my talkpage, if you're interested in making sense of it as to whether some Canadian cards are useable here (It's all Greek to me...) – Connormah (talk) 06:29, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Also on the topic of Armstrong/Richard, you wouldn't happen to know much about the Chex photos and their copyright statuses, would you? Would almost be too good to be true if we could use them... (they don't appear to have copyright notices, for the record) – Connormah (talk) 07:23, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Just realized that I hadn't dropped by to thank you once again. Also - I've looked on eBay for photos of Emile Francis and it looks like there are some team-issued press photos, , none of which have copyright marks. Could any of these be useable? – Connormah (talk) 00:44, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Found these press photos for George Armstrong and Henri Richard as well: (more info at ) . Could any of these be used? – Connormah (talk) 00:46, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the generous info. I'll look through the images once I get the time! For the Armstrong ones, it seems that the photos were either released by the teams to an NHL press office, or directly to the press, if that helps. Not quite sure however. – Connormah (talk) 02:43, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the note! Myself and another editor are working to get Armstrong to GA status so these images should definitely help. – Connormah (talk) 07:23, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Could you maybe do the honours with uploading the Armstrong/Francis photos? (one of the headshots for Francis should be good) I'm slightly unsure of how to word the rationales, etc. and would like to have something to base any future uploads of the same nature off of. Thanks! – Connormah (talk) 07:35, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Looks great, thanks so much. – Connormah (talk) 00:41, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
My apologies for the (very) late reply - as for the Chex pics, yes, any ones you can find/upload would be great, whether they be of a Canadian or American team. CMAH (Connormah's Sock) 16:45, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
The Mahovlich photo is kind of an interesting case - all particular photos in that collection are supposedly PD or copyrighted and unlicensed, but it seems to be a more complex situation. There was a photo of Jean Beliveau from the same collection a while back, however it seems it was deleted. Similar photos of football players in the same collection, eg. File:Hal Patterson - football player.jpg, are licensed CC on Flickr by Library and Archives Canada. So I'm actually not so sure... – Connormah (talk) 00:20, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for those! I had actually uploaded a few a couple weeks back (I'm sure you've seen some) but I didn't get around to the ones of the American teams and certain ones of the Canadian teams. I think there's a Beliveau one in there as well. Also, if you can fish out the Henri Richard one at a better resolution, that'd be great. Also, do you mind if I copy one of your rationales to the George Armstrong one I uploaded. May be helpful for the future GA run. – Connormah (talk) 04:28, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
Better than the last version, though it's a bit out of focus. Hopefully something will pop up sooner rather than later... – Connormah (talk) 05:33, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks so much for those. – Connormah (talk) 16:26, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Another colour photo of Jo. Wonderful, thanks for uploading, and for the festive cheer. Hopefully a few of her CDs are waiting under the tree to be unwrapped tomorrow. :) Paul MacDermott (talk) 10:32, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Removing archive configurations?

I believe that you have no interest in creating or seeing archives. I think you have a right to remove posts by others and edit your user talk page. Can you let me remove the configurations, so you can remove them any way you choose? --George Ho (talk) 22:58, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Here's what I'd like: Want to keep the messages I have somewhere so the page doesn't wind up miles long. Is that what you have in mind? We hope (talk) 23:22, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
No, no. I just want to hear what you want. George Ho (talk) 23:49, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Re: News archive

Thanks for the link, I wondered why I couldn't seem to find anything through the usual route. Just spent the last half an hour or so searching for random topics, and I think I'm getting the hang of it now, although the new search tool seems to be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Paul MacDermott (talk) 22:32, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

I see what you mean about Bing. I just searched on there for information for an article I want to take through GAN and it's turning up more diverse results. I hadn't used it before now, but will definitely bookmark it. Thanks again. Paul MacDermott (talk) 23:44, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

New images

Thanks for uploading these. I'm still planning to take Paul's article through GAN, so have added the studio shot to the Jonathan and Darlene section. I know it's not strictly related to that period of their career, but does at least show them in the studio. I notice Metronome didn't have an infobox image, so added the cover. I might see if I can get it into the Supper Club article though. Paul MacDermott (talk) 20:35, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry to hear that, and hope it all goes well. This must, of course, be your main concern right now. I think I agree with you that the image would look better in the Supper Club article. It has a higher resolution so is ideal for an infobox. I'll give it a go and see how it looks. Paul MacDermott (talk) 21:23, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

The Tower House

Hi, any chance you could try to access the images linked in the request to User talk:Jmabel. There's two more at User talk:KJP1. The images were all taken in 1880s and are PD but I can't access them! I want to save and upload the full sized images and remove the watermark. Mabel says you can web scan and edit in art or something, can you do that?♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:59, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks but it will only let me save as an aspx or something, I don't think that's compatible so upload. Can you have a go at finding a way to do it? I was certain that the "old book" was actually The House of William Burges ARA, edited by R. P. Pullan (London, 1875-1885) , which is dated 1886. It's a 14 page book with 40 images of Tower House taken in the 1880s. Pullan was Burges' brother in law who owned it for five years after he died until his death in 1886. See the source of this to the book. How can the photographic work of somebody who died in 1886 still be copyrighted? I think we intend taking the tower, Jimmy Page's home to FAC at some point.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:06, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Purrfect thanks!! The other ones I wanted are at the source , here and here and any others of course which can be found! This is a massive help, thanks!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:49, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

That's it, all of those Tower House plates on BH online we want!! Can you find a way to edit them and save as a jpg and upload in the commons yourself? This is terrific, thanks!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:52, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

I've been saving in picasa and cropping and then uploading. If you can do that and copy the format of the existing ones I've uploaded and simply change the name this would save me a lot of time. I need a break right now. If not, I'll return to it later/tomorrow, cheers. I'll upload the burges bedroom now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:57, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

That's awesome thanks. Just copy in the commons upload. You may wish to upload the Burges bedroom one again, it uploaded as bedroo rather than bedroom, just check my history in the commons, you'll see it! If you think c.1883, just change my images to that from 1885, I'm off now, let me know how you get on! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:04, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
For your efforts to improve the photographic resources of The Tower House!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:50, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

That's great, thanks!! I'll let KJP decide what he wants to use when he returns. At some point it would be good if Page himself could photograph the interiors and upload new colour photographs Keep up the amazing work you do finding photographs of actors etc too! I iz the evil creator of Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Actors and FilmmakersDr. Blofeld 22:51, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

You're certainly more than welcome! , Those are two of the few images which exist. His attention to detail was extraordinary, when you see close ups of some of his designs they're pure genius!♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:03, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Jimmy Page has lived or partly lived there for over 40 years and said he still discovers new things in the designs even now!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:09, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Ah there is one more thing. KJP uploaded File:Melbury Road elevations-2.gif and another plan in the commons without adequate licensing which will get deleted if not sorted out. They're also from that 1973 book and i have a strong feeling they're also from the original 1885 pics. Can you investigate and if they are or likely are, can you add the correct licensing like the others and crop out the red marks?♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:20, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

María Antinea

Hi, any chance you can upload the photos from here into the commons? They're all public domain in Argentina. The "La doctora Castañuelas" ones are from 195 and can also go in Category:La doctora Castañuelas and feed into Category:Films of Argentina. The license is PD-AR-Photo I think. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:54, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Ezra Pound

Hi We hope, I was looking at Ebay and it seems that some of these images are free. Could you confirm?

Thanks in advance. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:53, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
After all the good I've seen you do, beginning with The Shirelles over a year ago, I've realized that I don't seem to have given you a barnstar yet. You deserve this; our media articles would be much poorer if you weren't around.  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:21, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
  • That's quite impressive. If you get the free time, have you considered polishing the prose for an FA run? In terms of comprehensiveness you're there, though I'd lose one of the two FU images to be safe. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:06, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

Re:BBC Yearbooks

Thanks for this. I'm always looking for things to add to radio and television articles, and these look like they'll have lots of interesting stuff. I see there's a few for sale on Amazon and ebay, mostly the earlier editions, but I'll do some investigating. Paul MacDermott (talk) 16:44, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks again, I'll repost them to a couple of the WikiProjects. There's lots of great stuff in them, and they'll be a useful resource for future articles. I had difficulty finding stuff for some of the earlier years in British TV articles when I worked on them a few years ago, so looking forward to grabbing a few things from this site. :) Paul MacDermott (talk) 17:07, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
