Tenaliram page

Hi, you reported edit war for Tenaliram page. It seems like someone added proper reference to the page. It will be great if you remove that edit war. Thank you. Ashok (talk) 09:57, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Occupied vs disputed

Splatter film

Hi Jim, The article 'Splatter Film' was flagged as containing numerous points without references - these were conjectural value judgements about which films are influential. So, I removed them to leave the facts (cited material) in tact. As Misplaced Pages's remit has it, 'ncyclopedic content must be verifiable'. I didn't leave a summary log accidentally - I clicked back to retrieve a reference that I had accidentally removed : I was about to restore it when you undid my changes. I now don't know how to retrieve the edits I made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.132.211.5 (talk) 08:44, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Splatter film

Yes Jim, I am aware I removed some other citations, but unless the main points of contention are substantiated (which they were not), those additional citations are meaningless. No bibliographic conflicts were caused by removing the additional citations. I have re-edited and added a report log to explain my changes — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.132.211.5 (talk) 08:57, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Correction in UKRAINE section of RUSSIFIED Names

Hi Jim1138,

I am new to this, so if u can help then that would be great :0) The changes I am trying to make are in the Ukraine section. I noticed that all the names used are still the Russian (or "Russified") names that reflect the "Russification" process of WW2, etc. I know what names are correct because I am a Ukrainian native speaker. But for documentation purposes you can verify that the correct Ukrainian names were officially recognized by the US State Dept in 1997 (I do not know the exact document number). There is an excellent article that refers to exactly this issue in the following newspaper article:

http://www.evalleyvoice.com/docs/ValleyVoiceJune2011.pdf

Please scroll down to page 4 to read it. Thus, other names that should be corrected, for example are:

Lvov should be LVIV

Ternopol should be TERNOPIL

Chernobyl should be CHORNOBYL

etc-etc

These changes should also be made in the main block of INFO on Ukraine (at top-right), so that the capital is correctly listed as "Kyiv" (and NOT as Kiev). This would mean also correcting the sections/pages on Kyiv alone, as well as the pages for the "Chornobyl Nuclear Accident" (which still also uses the incorrect Russian name of "Chernobyl")

These may seem like minor trivialities, but if Misplaced Pages is to continue to be the excellent resource it is, then this needs to happen.... and it seems only fair to the millions of Ukrainians around the world to whom these names 'belong' (much as we would not want names of US cities to be listed only in Icelandic ;0). In light of recent events in Ukraine, I think these correction take on a special sense of immediacy when one considers the struggle Ukraine currently is facing against Russian aggression. The names, like those of any country, are a viatl part of their innate identity.

Being a novice, I'm not sure I'm the right person to do these changes, but perhaps you and your people have someone who is adept at doing what is probably an easy cut/replace (for thos who know how to do such things).

Thank you in advance for your kind help!

Common English names are used. See WP:COMMONNAME. Official or alternate names can be added to an article of that topic, but probably shouldn't be added to other articles unless it helps clarify. The common English names should be used, otherwise people will not know what is being talked about. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 09:33, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Reverts

Please be careful about reverting determined edit warriors, you let yourself be drawn in. A look at the user's history shows they were up to maybe 7RR, and all that was needed was for them to revert after I dropped the warning template. Don't expose yourself by being too eager to revert. Acroterion (talk) 01:09, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Acroterion@ I did go overboard on that one and it wasn't vandalism. I will keep it under 3RR. Thanks for letting me know. Jim1138 (talk) 17:45, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi there!

Hi there! I noticed that you edited the Sonic Generations wiki recently, so I have a question for you. Am I allowed to put in the PC requirements to run the game? If I can, where do I put it? BustaBunny (talk) 14:20, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

BustaBunny@ Kind of want to avoid Misplaced Pages from being a how-to manual. So it's likely you shouldn't (see WP:NOTMANUAL). You might check other software articles to see what is done. You can link to the software's page, thought that should be limited to one link unless there are special circumstances. See WP:ELOFFICIAL. Hope this helps! Jim1138 (talk) 17:34, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, but just one more thing, I asked you and 3 other users this same question for a quick answer. Is that allowed? I ask because there seems to be some trouble going because of it over at sergecross73's place. BustaBunny (talk) 22:49, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

FYI, the trouble isn't that he asked 3 people the same question, but rather, multiple editors on my talk page suspect him of being a sockpuppet. Sergecross73 msg me 02:10, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Johny Hendricks's reach

Hi. Regarding my change to Johny Hendricks's article (changed reach to 69 inches), my source was the UFC production notes for UFC 171. I know it's difficult to list this as a source but the tale of the tape for the main event in UFC 171 showed that 69 inches is the correct reach for Hendricks. How can I support this change in the article? (the reach that is showing right now, 71 inches, is incorrect and has no source supporting it) Psycho-Krillin (talk) 16:23, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Psycho-Krillin@: It does seem that the majority favors 69", wish the search results were more consistent. Kind of wonder if Hendricks' reach is 71", but his manager is trying to get it publicized as 69" to make his opponents over-confident. Shifting birth years for actresses seems quite common. If you do a search on "Johny Hendricks reach 69" as well as "Johny Hendricks reach 71" you will get hits on both. Bloodyellow: 71" Bloodyellow: 69". espn: 69" espn: 69" It's a little confusing, but it tends to lean toward 69". Maybe use the last ESPN ref? Best to use a reference for something like this as there seems to be much edit warring on this kind of stuff. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Please change it as you see fit, but do add a reference! Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 17:21, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

I know wikipedia works best on computers, but I have had some issues with the mobile site. Is there a place I can go to get help with it? BustaBunny (talk) 02:22, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

BustaBunny@ Perhaps Help:Mobile access or wp:Teahouse? I am not familiar with mobile access. Hope this helps! Jim1138 (talk) 02:52, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Energetically Modified Cement

I saw your comments regarding COI and I am sorry to trouble you.

I can assure you, I have no connection at all with EMCs. I am simply bringing the level of the page to a higher standard of science with my background in material sciences. This page lives with the facts that the discovery of the technology is connected to one university in Sweden and the process became patented. In order to bring balance, there are no explicit references to the company (other than its official website) or any patent. There is even no reference at all to the process even being patented.

Before xmas, a user called maproom made a number of comments regarding the need to establish more about why the process yielded the improvements documented. Another user voiced the same concerns. As a result I spent about 10 hours writing about concrete chemistry. It then turned out maproom did not know the difference between cement and concrete (that's fine, and hopefully he learned something). After the extensive content about concrete chemistry was added, the second user stated they were satisfied with the changes made.

After about 2.5 months "silence" the latest raft of criticisms started. Again centering that the page did not explain the process. I made further edits. Then, the user Karl (who account shows intense activity virtually only on this page) started making a number of assertions which are just completely "off the scale". There is no need to even begin taking the comments because it is obvious that anyone with a sound grounding in material science would not raise these issues. Some of the accusations made have been simply outrageous. But i do not have the time to answer them. It is simply too distracting and time consuming.

  • In time, Karl's comment have become more extreme. In particular he has made statements about Ronin being a "director" of the company. I do not know this. But when I ask where is this stated, he says "on the website". But it isn't. I have searched the website now three times. When asked to show where it is stated, he then states it is stated in PDFs available from the website. Well, again I have looked - and this is not evident either. I cannot find a single PDF.
  • He then makes comments about EMCs being Portland cement. This is absolutely not true.
  • Then he states that "the Australians did this first". I ask him several times to back this up so that it can be considered and if necessary included on the page. But he never responds.

The entire tone, lack of precision, unsubstantiated assertions leads me to beleive he is connected to the Portland cement industry. Or, may be he has a bad experience of working with Ronin. It is all very odd. Why I wonder if Karl is in COI.

I want to add there are solid technical reasons as to why there is only a certain "level" to which I am prepared to explain the "EMC Activation" process. This is nothing to do with my lack of understanding the subjects involved in order to provide an explanation. I could do this. But, it is simply that beyond a certain level, one is in danger of crossing the threshold into original research. And I am very concerned that because of this limitation, users who do not understand the restrictions on original research will keep requiring the unwritable. As it is, today I have sent three hours wring on the tribochemical background giving rise to the theory behind the process. But, there are legitimate limits imposed by Misplaced Pages itself regarding original research.

Thank you for reading this if you did

Kind regards

Misguided lecturing

Are you seriously going to delete my calling out someone for making false and insulting statements about me, but not delete their false and insulting statements about me? And lecture me about it?

I wouldn't mind a bit if you deleted my response to incivility if you also deleted the incivility I responded to. Otherwise, your lecturing is either misinformed or misguided. Lockean One (talk) 01:10, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Lockean One@ You are giving me generalities with no specifics. A cursory view does not seem to support your claim. Jim1138 (talk) 01:41, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
LOL, I won't be wasting my time obliging you there since barely more than a cursory view is all it would take to see what I'm referring to. Lockean One (talk) 02:52, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Article section abuse

Hello

Yesterday I disputed an article's section (PIA: Fleet) which kept getting abused. I put 'dispute' in section and made an edit on talk page of PIA at https://en.wikipedia.org/Talk:Pakistan_International_Airlines, listing abuse section. The abuser, Naveed245, keeps abusing fleet section of PIA article. He is not referencing his edits and over riding my edits, which have references. Moreover, he makes multiple edits every time which makes it hard for me as i can't undo, and have to redo section manually every time. I'm citing official website and news article from reputable press.

Please tell me what to do. He removed the dispute warning from artivle and did not reply on talk page of PIA under dispute section. I tried to look up his edits to see if i can provide references (thinking he may be right), but he's getting those info from an unoffical-fan created PIA facebook page. Thus, it has ample of uncited and false info.

I tried to warn him many times, left message on his talk page. I tried everything possible i know of, but he won't give up. I checked his edits on other artivles, where he also posts uncited and false info (e.g, Malaysia airline crashed in south china sea when it hasn't been confirmed).

Article in question: https://en.wikipedia.org/Pakistan_International_Airlines Section: Fleet Talk page: https://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:Uabbas92#Pakistan_International_Airlines Section: Dispute

Uabbas92 (talk) 04:37, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Jim1138@Thanks for reply. Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to get banned as the purpose of my edits are to give actual info than preferred or rumored info. I had left him message on talk page, but no response.

So should I fix article or leave it as-is (with wrong information)? If i fix it, the next day he'll undo it and I'll have yo repeat process again.... Uabbas92 (talk) 04:53, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Jim1138@I think Naveed is doing The three-revert rule thing. He should be banned for 24 hours? He did 4 edits under 24 hours... Accidentally I did the same trying to fix the vandalism.
Uabbas92@ No need to ping me on my own talk page. I would recommend staying away for a bit. You shouldn't have to worry about a block. I would recommend putting an invitation to discuss PIA directly on Naveed's talk page. Also, ping Naveed every time you leave a message on talk:PIA. Take a look at wp:dispute resolution to familiarize yourself with the process. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:30, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Jim1138@He did it again.. I want to talk in dispute, but he keeps removing dispute banner nor replying on talk page. He's not responding to my messages... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uabbas92 (talkcontribs) 23:09, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
{{@|Jim1138} So I followed your advice. It was not the right one. My dispute was closed and I was referred to yet another place. https://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Naveed245 is where I opened dispute about user conduct. Now it requires both parties to respond. HE DOES NOT RESPOND! God's sake man. I am trying to do the right job here, giving citation and I have to beg the guy to come and talk on PIA page, leave messages on his page, get mods to get him to communicate. If he's not interested and CAN NOT follow the rules (no edit summary, no citation, ruining undo option), why do I have to jump around and do the right thing? So much for democracy at wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uabbas92 (talkcontribs) 22:17, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
https://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Naveed245 . Please sign the page. I need two people to sign in total. Naveed won't sign... Also detail what you've done to get him to resolve dispute. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uabbas92 (talkcontribs) 04:28, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

No thanks on the help

Jim, thanks for trying to be helpful, but no, I do not actually need your help. I made an appropriate edit which was incorrectly flagged by another user as vandalism. That does not mean I need a giant, colorful box of links to help topics on my user page. I am learning a lot about the culture of Misplaced Pages, though, and the tendency for people to try to help so quickly that they end up being less than helpful in practice. No need to add any more links, graphics, or generic advice to my user page in response to this.! Claudiaalismaki (talk) 04:49, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Claudiaalismaki@ It's your talk page so you are free to remove most anything. People who feel the need to communicate with you (within reason of course) are allowed to post there. See Misplaced Pages:User pages for info on that. If someone requests a citation, you should provide one or discuss why it's not needed. BTW: that's your "user talk page", your "user page" is here: user:Claudiaalismaki Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 04:54, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

I understand that people are allowed to talk there, and I never said you aren't allowed to. I can't figure out a way to remove the thing you added at the top and would rather it not be there. So I'm hoping you will honor my request not to insert anything like that again. Thanks for understanding. For clarification, the user that reverted my edit did not request a citation. It's not really helpful to get advice that doesn'thave anything to do with the issue at hand. Claudiaalismaki (talk) 04:59, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Claudiaalismaki@ You can either click on "View history" at the top of your talk page and click "Undo" on my edit, or you can edit the page, select what you don't want, (everything if you wish), delete it, and save the page. If you wish, I can remove it for you. A primer on editing can be found here: Help:Editing Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Salvatore Cuffaro

Dear Jim,

Can you please PROTECT the article on SALVATORE CUFFARO. It is being repeatedly vandalized by CIVA. I have reverted his last changes but he keeps vandalizing it. CUFFARO is a convicted criminal and he is spending his time in jail for mafia association. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.195.245.13 (talk) 17:02, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

JIM,

The vandal has put in the infobox at the voice profession : politician and doctor ( not former politician, and as for the doctor cuffaro has been expelled from the medical order)

I am feeling bored and disapponted by all this... you know what... maybe let's the mafia have their way. ( in the end who cares about having a correct an unbiased information ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.195.245.13 (talk) 17:48, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

In wikipedia Italy accuse me of being against Cuffaro, here in favor. Just as well...--Civa61 (talk) 19:01, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Jim, you have nothing to apologize, CIVA is well known in italian circles together with other people of the so-called wikimafia.

Anyway you might have noticed that the above mentioned guy has just deleted the conviction charges.

Cuffaro has been definitely convicted by the Supreme Court for aiding and abetting the mafia, and that sentence is final (2011). The sentence from (2012) in a lower court and another trial refers to the application of the principle of "Ne bis in idem" to the effect that no legal action can be instituted "twice" for the same cause of action, Cuffaro beign already convivicted for the very same facts could not be tried and convicted again in another trial for the same facts. ( ne bis idem). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.195.245.13 (talk) 19:44, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Civa will be well known but not spear mud, and hides behind an anonymous. --Civa61 (talk) 20:43, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Dear Jim,

I must confess I am a bit tired. And as I have mentioned before I know for a fact CIVA has not even the remotest intention of improving on the article but just "blanking out" essential parts related to Cuffaro's criminal history. I think CIVA should be at least temporarily blocked from doing further edits on this specific article, and possibly from all mafia related articles.

You might have noted all his edits with no exception on this specific article are aimed at "embellish" the matter of fact that Cuffaro is a mafia convicted guy, kinda sprinkling a bit of "sugar" here and there, omitting data and giving misleading information. Let's see what I can do to straigthen the record. Jim can I also contact you privately by mail ?

PS. I am not so much into wikipedia technicalities, like "pinging" an user and so on, the reason why I am not involved in this project is exactly due to these italian wiki-mafia, guys like CIVA, tampering against any objective data. It is awful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.195.245.13 (talk) 21:23, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

CIVA : PROBLEMATIC USER

Jim, as I told you I am not into wikipedia technicalities.

As you might have noticed I stopped editing on Cuffaro's article even if in its current state it is missing key data due to the intervention of CIVA in order to avoid further confrontation with that disgusting individual, but I would like at least to report him as a problematic user.

May I ask you what is the procedure to report CIVA as a "problematic user" ? Thanks for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.195.245.13 (talk) 22:13, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Truly those who is a "problematic user" in wikipedia.it and blocked it was 88.195.245.13 . --Civa61 (talk) 23:20, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Phone cloning allows you to find out information about anybody if you can steal their phone for a few minutes in order to clone the sim. Hello there. You contacted me yesterday regarding an edit I made to the Total Drama All-Stars page? Well, the lack of official sources on Total Drama has always been an issue. No Citation possible

I made a change to Jeff Martin's Misplaced Pages page about him winning our family's March Madness pool. Since it's a family pool, I'm not sure how there would be a citation (should I forward you the chain of emails?). But it is factual. Please update my changes so i can share it with Jeff and the family. It's factual and everyone would get a kick out of it. Respond to bhblacklow @ g m a i l . c o m

Melbourne Airport

The change I made to Melbourne Airport was for the following reason: The text on the hyperlink said "third most traveled route in the world", or something to that effect. When I clicked on the link to find out what the most traveled air routes in the world were, the chart said it was the fifth most traveled route. In that there were four others listed above it with higher annual passenger capacity. I don't need to provide a citation...I change the text to match the chart it was linking to. When the text said "third" and the chart says "fifth", one of them was wrong. I don't really care which one gets changed, but it's a given that they should match.69.47.57.162 (talk) 04:04, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Language edit

Sir, the language part of Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi is a Hindi film not English. Because Hindi films have English dialogues but its not billed as English too film. And sir its ok you didn't make a mistake in fact thank. Sir, if you edit the English part of film it will reverted by another user. I don't mind. Because here some users get anxious when they find English in Infobox. The film Ra.One is Hindi & English movie too but some user made it total Hindi for no apparent reason. Infact i have to complain about the users who keep editing and revert the edits. No single wikipedian is supporting Ra.One's edit. Anyways, thank you again R★S★S (Your Precious Reply) 17:24, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Total Drama All-Stars Edit

Hello there, it's me again. Regarding credible sources on the poor reception of All-Stars as the two of us had been discussing last week, a lot of the criticism aimed at the season was attributed to the character Mike/Mal who was the main villain of the season, and controversial for his portrayal of MPD in a comedic manner. I was pointed to the Total Drama Facebook page where a known associate of Fresh TV did in fact acknowledge the character as having been controversial, in part due to this season. Could that be considered a reliable source?WisdomSeer (talk) 20:04, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Sir, despite of it i did lots of hardwork for the language but no good return. And yes it's a bilingual film. I also applied a source from IMDB but they said its not a good source and IMdb shows Ra.One as Hindi Tamil Telugu Cantonese & English though (Tamil Telugu & Cantonese) is dubbed but English is a language too. Blackjack

Hi Jim1138 this is Mathematicalist. I see your blackjack deletion. I am not sure if you are a gambling expert as I am. When you walk the aisles and the hallways at the big gambling industry events such as G2E and ICGRT and the Gaming Industry Summit you hear the truths that casino customers never hear. That is why it says "some say". How else can I reference what a major casino blackjack shift manager says in the hallways at G2E? Misplaced Pages is about the people not about the private interests. It is about the only place where the people can speak though private interests like the casino industry pay a lot more attention to Misplaced Pages than Misplaced Pages people think. Industries like casinos and pharmaceuticals that prey on the public by way of their seductive mystiques are very focused on online and Misplaced Pages with its high Google status is not an afterthought it is a priority. Please restore that deletion. The public should avoid blackjack tournaments that are merely another means of setting up its fleecing in the casinos. Thanks Jim1138. Appreciate your understanding of this. When you are in Las Vegas next be sure to let me know in advance so we can meet up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mathematicalist (talkcontribs) 04:55, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Excuse me, Jim1138. Meant "The casinos don't need you to look out for them!" If you continue this clear misconduct then you should at least tell us all which casino company you are affiliated with. Blackjack tournaments as all gambling tournaments are meant to degrade gambler judgment and playing discipline so that the real house edge doubles or even triples. I imagine you don't know a hell of a lot about gambling. Or maybe you are an adherent of that half witted Wizard of Odds who is actually a front for online gambling which is an extremely negative development for our collective sanity. Leave that post of mine in place and go bother the Barry Obama post to get it deleted on the grounds of fraudulence. Recent change in gender equality

  • The term 'gender' and the term 'sex' do not give same meaning. Sex is what is between our legs and gender is what is between our ears. Even wikipedia has different articles of sex and gender. We should not let readers confuse those terms which have different meanings. So I had removed the terms 'sex equality and sexual equality' from the article.
  • Well another term comes of narrow definition of gender in gender equality. Not only men and women are equal, genderqueers are also equal. They are not included in this article so I had removed the term that 'men and women are equal' and replaced with 'all people are equal'.
  • The term 'sex'and 'gender' are not the same. It has different meanings. So sex equality means equality between male sex, female sex and intersex whereas gender equality is the equality between men, women and genderqueer people. So it is better that these terms do not collapse each other. That's why i removed the redirect of sex equality to gender equality.

So I'd like to request you to remove the terms 'sex equality and sexual equality' from the article and define it not only equality between men and women but also genderqueer people. -Krozan7 (talk) 04:33, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

@Krozan7: per Gender, it does appear to be used interchangeably. If you read my note, I removed it as you did not explain your removal. I suggest you discuss this on the talk pages as there are others who would disagree. Jim1138 (talk) 04:41, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

December 13/Star Trek Into Darkness

Hello, I just want to ask, in what way is changing the line "It was announced that Star Trek 3 is scheduled to be released" to "It was announced that Star Trek 13 is scheduled to be released" worthy of including a source? I just need to count the Star Trek movies already made to get to the conclusion that Star Trek 12's sequel will be Star Trek 13, so I don't see why my change has been reverted. Especially since the next sentence mentions a "thirteenth Star Trek movie" anyway, so why write Star Trek 3 in the first place? Greetings Smintili (talk) 22:00, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

2016 in film

Well, The Legend of Spyro wasn't a Sony Pictures Animation September 2016 film, nor was it a 20th Century Fox film, and it wasn't in the source, it was actually from an unknown contributer Larry1996 (talk) 03:07, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

The reason why

Well, I think you did make a mistake, the Legend of Spyro wasn't a Sony Pictures Animation September 2016 film, nor was it a 20th Century Fox film, and it wasn't in the source, nor were the actors in Angry Birds, there have been no news about that either, it was actually from an unknown contributer

Re: Nandan Nilekani page

Hi Jim!

The page is seeing lot of IP vandalism because of the election season in India. Specifically the Middle name of the person seems to be of prime concern. Based on my knowledge and the citations found by me: Times of India page. His father's name was "Mohan Rao Nilekani" and thats where the middle name comes from. Also the following confirms:The Telegraph.

And to add to it, the person himself has uploaded his Govt. Identity card in his Twitter Page.

Please look into the matter.--Deepon (talk) 07:07, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Jim, so I think we can change the middle name to "Mohan" and make the page semi-protected (It has already been proposed). --Deepon (talk) 07:28, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

EDIT TO YOUR ARTICLE ON SUPERMARINE

I presume you mean "hobbies and not-for-profit companies" started collecting Spits under the Warbird banner? Even if not, "for profit" should have an hyphen to ease legibility. If they ARE money-spinning ventures, it might read better as "hobbies and businesses". No sources for this: just it seemed hard to take in at one reading. 146.200.148.218 (talk) 10:25, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

I didn't understand why you changed it from "not-for-profit" to "for-profit". Groups who do this may use the "not-for-profit" as they don't expect to make a profit and "for profits" are often required to show a profit occasionally. Allows donations with write-offs, etc. I notice the link is dead. Cheers Jim1138 (talk)

IBA drinks

There is a template for cocktail with a specific point for IBA Official drinks. In what way is it disruptive to ensure that, 1, all the drinks in the IBA official list are noted as BEING IBA official drinks, and, 2, the list adhere to the IBA standard, which clearly states that they use cl as a measure, and nothing else? Otherwise, why is the 'IBA Official Cocktail' template even there? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.229.48.153 (talk) 01:25, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

No reason both can't be there. I add both units. Why can't you? Jim1138 (talk) 01:28, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Because both units aren't specified. If the IBA used both, I wouldn't say anything. Also, you DON'T use both. Instead, you reverted the edit completely, which not only removed the IBA template, but also the measurements, so that cl ISN'T used. Which is wrong.85.229.48.153 (talk) 01:33, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
IBA is not the only standard. Jim1138 (talk) 01:39, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Are you in all honesty saying that there is a specific point in the template to note if it is an official IBA cocktail or not, but the template should be written to another, nebolous standard, because they 'are not the only standard'? Ok, then. What standard SHOULD be used, in your opinion? One that is consistant and which preferrably has a point in the template to note that the drink conforms to THAT one, as well as an page or paper that can be sourced? The IBA is the nearest thing there is to an world authority within the bartending world, as far as I know, and the drinks on their list should therefor conform to their standard. If you have another suggestion of what standard to follow, please put it forward. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.229.48.153 (talk) 01:48, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
The IBA is not used in the United States. I suspect the IBA is not used other places as well. You can easily leave both units. There is no reason to remove one to make way for the other. 02:04, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Yes, the IBA is most certainly used in the US. The I is for International, and the US have been a member of the IBA, through the United States Bartenders Guild, since 1961! And while it isn't in every country in the world, it is the nearest thing to a world standard there is. And IT DOESN'T USE OTHER UNITS. Beside which, and I repeat, if it's ok to use both units, as you say, ignoring the NO OTHER UNITS part, why did you then only use one unit, as well as remove the part about it being an official IBA cocktail? This, along with your threats about blocking me when I, once more, corrected things and left reasons for it, is starting to make me wonder if this isn't less about me making an edit, and no, it wasn't vandalism, and more about you being a toxic leader who is feeling upset because I dared challenge your authority. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.229.48.153 (talk) 02:14, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
I undid your "removal of content". If it is so ubiquitous, why were the articles generated with ounces and remain that way so long? You are welcome to use metric, even have them be the first units, but the ounces need to stay. Jim1138 (talk) 02:22, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
So, since no-one has bothered to correct the errors in the recipes, it's wrong to correct them? Is that what you're saying? You aren't actually taking this in, are you? The wiki-page for IBA, as well as the IBAs OWN page clearly state that they don't use other measures. The edits I made to the French 75 page, and other pages, haven't REMOVED anything. They've CORRECTED things which were wrong. YOU, on the other hand, reverted the change to something which is WRONG. You didn't edit it in turn to allow for the use of ounces, which, even if it wasn't correct, could've been understandable. You reverted several corrections, the measurements used being only one. This causes me to think that, the reason the articles contained ounces and not centi-litres is less because they've never been changed, and more because people like you have reverted things again. Now, let's break this down to its basics, ok? As I understand it, you do not put your own spin or opinions or anything like that into Misplaced Pages. You stick with the plain straight facts. And those facts are that the IBA is the nearest thing to a world authority. This is why there is a tag in the cocktail templates for if a drink is an IBA cocktail or not. The IBA specifies the use of one measurement(beyond neboulus things like dashes and the like) and that's the centi-litre. Thus, millilitres(which was used in several recipes as well) and ounces don't belong. Thus, removal of the ounces or milli-litres in the recipes, and the replacement of them with centi-litres are a correction of an error. The fact that you revert the correction I did, not once but several times, despite me giving a reason, and then finally threatening me with blockage for making that edit...I don't know, but it doesn't exactly give the best impression, you know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.229.48.153 (talk) 02:37, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

What makes you think they're wrong? There is not universal agreement on drink recipes. I did googled and the first link that came up barschool.com uses ounces, not cl. Jim1138 (talk) 02:54, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Are you refusing to comprehend what you're told, or are you just trolling by now?? There is an IBA tag in the template. There is no barschool.com tag, correct? IBA is the nearest thing to a world authority. Thus, the IBA standard is the one that should be followed, on the recipes of cocktails that are in the IBA Offical Cocktails list. The IBA uses ONLY cl in their cocktails. Thus, the recipes of the cocktails in the list should only use cl. Not something else, not cl and something else. ONLY cl. If you can show me an authority of the same seniority and general world-wide coverage, that uses ounces ounces or cl and ounces, fine. But since there is no such tag in the template, but there IS an IBA tag, I'd say that that chance is rather small. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.229.48.153 (talk) 03:05, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Editing of House of Romanov Article

We've recently updated the article with a new family head , since we found out that there is a great-great-grand son of Alexander of Russia.

We don't have any news articles to prove this claim -as well as other head families- but we do have his name on the Russian Imperial Family official tree posted at the Families official website confirmed by the government of Russia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.66.9.24 (talk) 07:56, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Fugitive slave clause edit

Hey, Jim1138, the article is incorrect in asserting that Charles Cotesworth Pinckney and not Charles Pinckney proposed the fugitive slave clause. They are two different people, in fact cousins, and both were at the convention. I attempted to change it. It appears you changed it because the link is ambiguous, the link should go to the wikipedia page Charles Pinckney (Governor). I cited to the James Madison's notes taken at the actual convention. This was my first edit so i may not have done it correctly, but i think it important that the information be correct rather than the cite or link be perfect. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.122.168.1 (talk) 15:11, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Scorpnorx's changing stuff again.

He clearly has not changed. Could you report him again, please? Byzantium Purple (talk) 01:09, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

@Byzantium Purple: I don't recall having interacted with Scorpnorx. I do get overwhelmed here, so you should fill me in more: links, etc. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:39, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
