'''Oppose''' The photo in the article is by noted photographer ]. It depicts part of Todd's professional life, when he produced the Strauss operetta ''A Night in Venice'' at Jones Beach. He's seen with the scenery for the production in the background. This was quite a production for Todd, complete with floating gondolas. The photo from the newspaper showing Todd with his hand out tells us nothing about the man and what he did, as the Jones Beach photo does. Further, the user who changed the photo and started this RFC made all of to it--those were to change the original photo to something he recently uploaded. ] (]) 17:55, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

there is a free image of mike todd here: http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/cph.3g04348 that would look great w/ this article. 140.247.240.181 23:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

--71.222.247.31 22:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)I know for a fact that they DID find his body. That guy has to be wrong.

Mike Todd's body

In June 1977, Mike Todd's body was dug up and his remains were found about 100 yards from his grave in a bag. Dental records proved the remains were those of Mike Todd, which proves his body was found after the fatal plane crash. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.181.218.88 (talk) 13:11, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

The lucky ones

I have notes that say Elizabeth Taylor, Kirk Douglas, Joe E Lewis and Joseph Mankiewicz were all scheduled to fly with him on his fateful flight, but all changed their plans for various reasons. This needs a cite, though. -- JackofOz (talk) 22:34, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Todd-AO Studios

Isn't it odd that this whole article fails to use the word SOUND? He started an independent sound recording/post production company very early on that is, to this day, the world's largest independent audio post production company, Todd-AO Studios. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.127.100.147 (talk) 09:54, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Consensus to change infobox photo

There was no consensus to change the infobox photo among those who have edited this article. The only edits made by the editor were to change the photo to something he recently uploaded and it has been reverted. We hope (talk) 13:06, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Maybe you can explain to the curious why you personally think a photo of a theater cafe is more useful to his biography than a photo of him. --Light show (talk) 17:07, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
  • removed photo removed photo
  • restored photo restored photo
They'd also like to know why the previous free use photo needed replacement. We hope (talk) 17:44, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
It wasn't replaced, it was just moved down in place of the cafe image. The photo you removed is clearer and better for his lead, IMO. --Light show (talk) 18:00, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
To me, the Frisell photo captures something of Todd's essence--always thinking about what the "next big thing" would be. It was also included in her book. We hope (talk) 18:06, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
To me, it would fit better in Chicago cuisine than his bio. --Light show (talk) 18:10, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

The photo we're discussing was taken on Long Island. We hope (talk) 18:12, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Then why restore a photo of a restaurant and delete a good one of him? It's his bio. --Light show (talk) 18:15, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
Tell me what a photo of Todd with his hand out tells us about the man and what he did? We hope (talk) 18:18, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
He's either asking for spare change or checking for rain. --Light show (talk) 17:27, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

  • The "removed photo" is clearer, sharper and better lit, therefore better for his lead image. It's also far better for his bio than a photo of a cafe, if only one can be used. --Light show (talk) 17:27, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
