America: Imagine the World Without Her is a 2014 documentary based on a book by Dinesh D'Souza. D'Souza executive produced and co-directed with John Sullivan.

As with its predecessor, 2016: Obama's America, the film received poor ratings from film critics, but was very well received by its viewers and the conservative community.

Release & box office

The film was put in wide release on July 2. It finished #11 in the weekend box office for July 4 through 6 grossing $2,743,753 for a total gross of $4,062,721 after its opening weekend in wide release. The film did not perform as well as D'Souza's earlier film 2016: Obama's America.

Reception

The film has been met with negative reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 11%, based on 18 critics. On Metacritic, the film has a score of 14 out of 100, based on 11 critics, indicating "overwhelming dislike". However CinemaScore polls conducted during the opening weekend revealed the average grade cinemagoers gave the film was A+ on an A+ to F scale, indicating that moviegoers who were predisposed to see the film did enjoy it. A total of 52 films have been scored an "A+" since Cinemascore's inception most films are given a lower grade.

After receiving a poor review from Reuters entitled To celebrate the Fourth of July, don’t go see this movie, where the author wrote "I wouldn’t ordinarily dignify such nonsense with a column, but America the movie exemplifies everything that’s wrong about the American political conversation these days, rich with examples from both left and right." Gerald R. Molen responded stating, "I'm used to having my movies critiqued, but to have a reporter actually tell people not to attend a movie is a first. This is the movie world's version of voter suppression efforts in politics. Shameful. But most Americans don't like to be told what to do by elite journalists and I have faith that it will only motivate Americans to go to their local theater."
