Burdwan Medical College is a medical college located in Burdwan Town, Burdwan district, West Bengal. It was established in 1969 by the University of Burdwan as Burdwan University Medical College. Later it was taken over by the government of West Bengal on 4 August 1976, and rechristened Burdwan Medical College. The campus is spread over approximately 51 acres.

Hospital

Its attached Hospital, Bijoy Chand Hospital was named after Bijoy Chand Mahtab,who established it and was popularly known as “B.C. Hospital” and subsequently renamed as “Burdwan Medical College Hospital”. It has completed over 100 years catering service to the people of this district, adjacent districts, i.e. Hooghly, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Purulia, partly Bankura and even sometimes people of Jharkhand State and the State of Bihar are attending this hospital.

College

The college admits 100 MBBS students every year via the WBJEE.It admitted students through the NEET in 2013,before it was scrapped by the Supreme Court of India.

Its nearest Railway Station is Burdwan, while the nearest Airport is Kolkata, 100 km away from Burdwan.
