Donors Capital Fund (DCF) is a nonprofit Virginia donor advised charity that focuses donations on politically conservative causes and organizations. Donors Capital Fund is associated with Donors Trust, another conservative-focused donor advised fund.

Background

According to Donors Capital Fund, it was "formed to safeguard the charitable intent of donors who are dedicated to the ideals of limited government, personal responsibility, and free enterprise."

Donors Capital Fund is associated with Donors Trust. Donors Trust refers clients to Donors Capital Fund if the client plans to maintain a balance of $1 million or more. Like Donors Trust, Donors Capital Fund assures donors that their donated funds will only ever be used to support conservative causes.

As of June 2014, the board of directors consists of Adam Meyerson, Kimberly Dennis, Whitney Ball, Arthur Brooks, Steven Hayward, Kris Mauren, William Mellor, Roger Ream, and John Von Kannon.

Donors Capital Fund files with the US Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.

Funding recipients

DonorsTrust and Donors Capital Fund had distributed nearly $120 million dollars to more than 100 groups skeptical of global warming between 2002 and 2010, according to the The Guardian. According to environmental sociologist Robert Brulle, "by 2009, about one-quarter of the funding of the climate countermovement is from the Donors Trust, Donors Capital Fund."

In 2008, the Donors Capital Fund granted $17.7 million to The Clarion Fund, now the The Clarion Project, a nonprofit corporation organized for the education of the US public about the dangers of Islamic extremism. ”One of our clients made a recommendation for Clarion and so we did it,” Whitney Ball, president of Donors Capital Fund, told Salon, the news website.

In 2009 and 20101 Donors Capital Fund granted $192,000 to the new nonprofit corporation Alaska Policy Forum (a member of the State Policy Network of conservative think tanks which focus on state-level policy), which was most of the funds raised by the Forum in that period.

Donors Capital Fund paid the legal fees of the Project on Fair Representation, a Washington, D.C.-based legal defense fund that assembled the plaintiff's legal team in Fisher v. University of Texas, a 2013 United States Supreme Court case concerning affirmative action college admissions policies.
