After having played with the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings during a standout 14-year NFL career, former player Darren Sharper pleads guilty in a Maricopa County courtroom to raping two women after spiking their drinks at a Tempe, Arizona, apartment in November 2013, and the court sentences him to nine years in prison. Specifically, he pleads guilty to one count of sexual assault and one count of attempted sexual assault. Sharper's guilty plea is entered by telephone conference call from Los Angeles, California, where the former five-time Pro Bowl safety is being held on separate charges of drugging four women and raping two of them in West Hollywood.
