Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Please extend protection, chicken vandalism continues. — Jeraphine 09:31, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. ItsZippy 10:59, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry by the indefinitely blocked User:036386536a. (See also Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/036386536a.) House of Landi was previously semi-protected for a month; please consider applying semi-protection for a bit longer this time as it doesn't seem to have discouraged the sockpuppeteer. Temporary pending changes: With possible transfer coming up, many rumours could be added. TeaLover1996 (talk) 08:16, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
Twin Towers 2
Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – The page was temporarily semi-protected protected due to vandalism. Now after that protection expired, IPs are coming and vandalizing the article again. I warned the IP address. I think the page should be indef pending changes due to the IPs coming again, even after semi expired. Thanks. CookieMonster755 (talk) 06:22, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
List of chess grandmasters
This page is evidently just too tempting a target for bored kids wanting to add their names or their friends' names to the list. There have been close to zero constructive edits from IP's on this page. Long term, perhaps even indefinite semi-protection seems appropriate. IP's are welcome to request changes on the talk page. Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Blocked user keeps on editing his talk page now-maybe he should be blocked from that . Wgolf (talk) 04:09, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 11:48, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Lukeno94: Perhaps I'm missing something, but those IP edits don't look like vandalism to me, or at least not vandalism obvious enough for me to tell what it is. — Mr. Stradivarius 06:42, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- Well, the latest IP edits were coming from my IP stalker "friend", but ignore those for a second (ie, those from IPs that weren't 117.xxx) Prior to that, we had the original IP trying to edit-war in an inappropriately long plot summary, and the article, as with most Indian film articles, has a history of people making up box office figures. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 10:39, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 01:33, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Automated comment: One or more pages in this request have not been protected.—Talk to my owner:Online 01:51, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Confirmed that the page is protected. The bot is messing up again. --MelanieN (talk) 20:41, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
James Rhodes (pianist)
Unprotection: There is no BLP violation, as it is covered in reliable sources. This semi-protection appears to be an attempt to quash the talkapge consensus to include it, by preventing the IP user from editing. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:40, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
For referral this protection granted by @CambridgeBayWeather was only archived a few hours ago as closed with one week of protection on the article. This contentious book is supposed to be published in the next few das, so it would be quite inappeopriate to remove the protection to the article due to BLP issues, and the two currently unresolved edit warring reports concerning said article. If anything the protection should be lengthened.
prior archived request was granted See here:
"=== James Rhodes (pianist) === Persistent IP editor is threatening to re-add information that is a blatant BLP Issue. There is currently an edit warring report pending here. Also I started a discussion on the article talk page so that editors may attempt to reach a consensus regarding this matter. Cheers! WordSeventeen (talk) 02:01, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
The IP editor involved in the above note has now been taken to the edit warring noticeboard for making 7 reversions inside of 24 hours. See here:
There are currently two separate reports about edit warring involving different editors at this same article. Other one is here: Thank you for attebtion to this matter. Cheers! WordSeventeen (talk) 02:40, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Fulfilled/denied requests
A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Misplaced Pages:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
