The Norwegian Jewel

History

The Norwegian Jewel was launched in August, 2005. She was constructed at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Vessel Class

Norwegian Jewel is NCL's third SuperStar class vessel. She was preceeded by Norwegian Star, and Norwegian Dawn. She was followed one year later by Pride of Hawaii. Two more SuperStar vessels are currently under construction at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Norwegian Pearl will launch in 2006, and Norwegian Gem in 2007. Each SuperStar vessel has a similar outward appearance, but each is unique in terms of accommodations.

Amenities

  • Purpose-built for Freestyle Cruising
  • 10 restaurants including Cagney's Steak House, Blue Lagoon and NCL's signature restaurant, Le Bistro.
  • 'Bar Central' concept, featuring a martini bar, a champagne and wine bar and a beer and whisky pub, all connected.
  • Staterooms modeled after those found aboard Norwegian Star and Norwegian Dawn - including the addition of 10 penthouse suites.
  • A large number of staterooms in most categories that can interconnect.
  • The state-of-the-art Bora Bora Health Spa.
  • Splashdown Kids Club, Sapphire Kids Pool and Underground Teens Club.

Current Cruises

Norwegian Jewel currently spends warmer months cruising the Mediterannean on a variety of itineraries. In the fall she currently sails various Caribbean itineraries departing from Miami.

Trivia

  • The Norwegian Jewel was featured in an episode of The Apprentice in which candidates were required to use interior and exterior shots of the ship to create a 30-second commercial.
