Mortal Kombat: Devastation is the third installment in the movie franchise based on the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. This movie is still being filmed.

The film was stated to begin production in Summer 2005; however, because of Hurricane Katrina, Casamassa said that it had "set us back a few months". This movie was going to be filmed in Thailand, just like Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, but Universal Studios decided to build a huge studio/theme park, in which people would be able to see the filming in progress. But, since hurricane Katrina messed up those plans, they were able to shoot only a few scenes there. The rest of the filming is taking place in Thailand and other locations.

Plot

Earth's mightiest warriors: Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, and Raiden must fight another evil force bent on the devastation of our world.

Notes

  • Even though this movie will reunite the entire original cast, or try to, some of the original cast members say they may not return due to the failure of the second film. Of these mentioning this were: Talisa Soto, Bridgette Wilson, Sandra Hess, and even Lynn "Red" Williams. Of course Talisa Soto has some contract negotiations to get around in order to stay out of this picture.
  • Even though the movie is stated to be in production, much of the casting still has yet to be filled, plus there may still be a green light to go to Thailand to shoot this film. So far there have only been seven confirmed parts already cast.
  • It has been revealed that Liu Kang will not be the hero of this movie, as stated by Robin Shou in an interview. Instead, the hero is to be Sub-Zero. This interview was confirmed, however, the plot is now official that this film will be a sequel and NOT A PREQUEL and Robin Shou has since been asked to rejoin the project. See the IMDB link below to see.
  • Several actors, and actresses have been approached to be a part of this film. Of those approached were John Rhys-Davies, John Stamos, Ray Park, Patricia Ja Lee,Talisa Soto, Christopher Lambert, Linden Ashby, Keith Cooke, Bruce Locke, Adoni Maropis, and even Trish Stratus. Some of these actors and actresses have either declined to appear, still talking to the producers, writers, and casting agents, and others were once attached but dropped out due to a lack of the film being under way. Several older cast members may still return from the original film.
