ŽS series 621 is a Serbian code for shunting Czech-made diesel-electric locomotive class on Serbian Railways. This class has nicknames "Žutka" (Yellow) and "Osica" (little wasp) as they were originally painted in yellow livery and "Trafika" (Newsstand).

History

Serbian Railway have bought first 621 series shunter locomotive in 2001. In 2005 year 22 more locomotives were introduced in service. Later two more second-hand shunters from Czech Republic industrial railways were bought. This series is originally ČMKS 709, series 621-100 is 709.401, 621-200 is 709.701 and 621-300 is 709.5. The Kolubara coal basin also bought 621 class locomotives for hauling lighter freight coal trains.

There are today 15 locomotives of this series operated by Serbian Railways and two operated by Rail transport of Kolubara coal basin. This locomotives are built for heavy shunting.

Livery

Locomotives have yellow livery. Last two 621-300 second-hand shunters from Czech Republic have blue-white livery and first bought locomotive has red-white livery. Two 621 series locomotives operated by Rail transport of Kolubara coal basin are painted in green-yellow-black livery.
