Nanak Shah Fakir is a 2015 film on the life and teachings of the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev. It has been produced by Mr. Harinder S. Sikka, and has been co-produced by Resul Pookutty and Samar Sikka under the banner of M/S Gurbani Media Pvt Ltd. Academy award winners Resul Pookutty and AR Rahman have designed the sound and mentored the original score of the film respectively. The original score of the film has been composed by renowned Hollywood composer Tuomas Kantelinen. The music of the film has been composed by Mr.Uttam Singh. The songs (shabads) have been sung by Pt. Jasraj, Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa& Ms. Puneet Sikka. The film has been highly appreciated at the Cannes Films Festival market 2014, at Toronto (Oct 2014) and LA (Nov 2014) as well as by the viewers through its worldwide release on 17 April 2015.

Controversy

The movie is facing criticism after release of trailers for depicting Guru Nanak which is not true as Computer graphic are used to depict Guru Nanak Dev Ji . Sikh group Dal Khalsa warn against release of movie. Damdami Taksal also submit memo to Akal Takht jathedar against film.

The movie had courted another controversy after Sartaj Singh Pannu, Director of Nanak Shah Fakir moved the Delhi High Court against producers Harinder Singh Sikka and Oscar-winning sound artiste Resul Pookutty. Sartaj Singh Pannu, in his petition, reportedly maintained that he had worked on the project as the film director.
