Hello, I'm Andrey from Yaroslavl, Russia. I have never been abroad, therefore my opinions tend to be Russia-centric. Nevertheeless, my interests range far and wide, from medieval architecture and prosopography to Diego Velazquez and Frank Sinatra. Some of my favourite writers are Andrew Marvell, Laurence Sterne, Andrey Bely, and Alain Robbe-Grillet. Curiously enough, I haven't yet contributed a single sentence on articles about any of these.

I joined Misplaced Pages on December 7, 2004. During my first six months of editing, I made more than 10,000 edits and uploaded about 500 images (not counting the Commons). My longest article to date is the List of Indo-European roots. My 15,000th edit was writing Descent from antiquity on November 16, 2005. My 25,000th edit happened sometime in February 2006, a month after I contributed my 400th article to this project. My 30,000th edit was writing House of Croÿ in April.

I am proud to report that this page was vandalized twenty one times. Unsurprisingly, I believe that users should be required to log in before editing. Previously I thought that the main threat to this project comes from nationalist trolls. Now that the standards have improved somewhat, the disruption emanates from non-writing admins who come here not to write articles but to make a career, to blabber incessantly and to scare those who actually write articles from editing. They seem to forget that our prime aim is to write an encyclopaedia, rather than to mete out punishments to those who actually further this aim.

As a bilingual editor, I'm strongly tempted to migrate to my native Misplaced Pages and leave this project to the mercy of nationalist trolls and clueless admins, but, as I see it now, doing so would spell defeat.
