4th Michigan Cavalry ~ the regiment that captured Jefferson Davis

Regiment lost during service 3 Officers and 48 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 341 Enlisted men by disease. Total 394.

Organized at Detroit, Mich., and mustered in August 28, 1862.
Left State for Louisville, Ky., September 26.
Attached to 1st Brigade, Cavalry Division, Army of the Ohio, to November, 1862.
