== County name etymology formatting ==
Hi, I've noticed that you altered the list formatting I did to most of the U.S. county name etymology articles ( and , to name a couple). When the bullet-point wikicode is formatted like this:
* List item 1 | |||
* List item 2 | |||
* List item 3 | |||
the result is a single unordered list. However, when there are spaces between the bullets in the wikicode, like this:
* List item 1 | |||
* List item 2 | |||
* List item 3 | |||
the result is a separate unordered list for every single bullet; "List item 1" exists in a list of one item, "List item 2" exists in a second list of one item, and so on. Presumably, the effect you are after in doing this is to increase the amount of spacing between list items, but that is a matter best left to the ] defining the sitewide presentation (and, if you so desire, your own personal stylesheet which can be customized by editing ] - see ] for further information). I will most likely switch the formatting on these back, unless there is a specific reason you prefer these articles to be formatted as multiple lists, rather than a single list. Thanks! -- ] 21:13, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

== Article Licensing ==
Hi, I've ] to get users to ] all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the ] Attribution-Share Alike (''CC-by-sa'') v1.0 and v2.0 ]s or into the ] if they prefer. The ''CC-by-sa'' license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Misplaced Pages's license, the ], but it allows '''other projects''', such as ], to use our articles. Since you are among the ] Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at ''minimum'' those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
*] - Lots of questions answered
*] | |||
*] | |||
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "'''<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>'''" template into their user page, but there are other options at ]. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
:'''Option 1''' | |||
:<nowiki>I agree to ] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:</nowiki>
:<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>
'''OR''' | |||
:'''Option 2''' | |||
:<nowiki>I agree to ] all my contributions to any ], county, or city article as described below:</nowiki>
:<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "'''<nowiki>{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}</nowiki>'''" with "'''<nowiki>{{MultiLicensePD}}</nowiki>'''". If you only prefer using the ], I would like to know that too. ''Please let me know'' what you think at my ''']'''. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- ] (| ]
== Three suggestions ==
1. add comments to your revisions, so it's easier for others to know what you are doing
2. rather than making lots of small consecutive edits, use the ''preview'' button before saving one final edit.
3. when adding factual information to an article, add the source of the information to the reference list. Everyone's guilty of not doing this, not least me, but it's very helpful to be able to see where stuff is coming from, rather than going off on a hunt to validate it from other sources.
I'm leaving these comments because I've noticed you're making frequent alterations to ], without comments as to what you're doing, and changing the factual information without saying where your facts are coming from.

It's a shame that TfD is dominated by a handful of people with a grudge against large, useful navigational templates, and want to see them all replaced by smaller, incomplete, less useful ones. ==Chicago Picture Vote==
Hi, | |||
I wanted to talk to you about your change of the ending date of the Chicago main page picture vote. I noticed that you changed the ending date to August 13th, this is much too long in my opinion, especially since I plan to nominate the article for Featured Article status ASAP and the lead picture is the last great hurdle. I understand your desire to make the voting period long enough for everyone to voice their opinions, but I feel that this is much too long. Please contact me if you object to this change as I would very much value your opinion.

== Wikimania bid == | |||
If it comes down to specifics, many MANY conventions will call themselves "Chicago" then actually book in someplace like Rosemont, Naperville, Lombard, etc. over hotel fees, room reservations, being able to get blocks of rooms, and generally lower taxes in the suburbs than the city proper. Many such suburbs are easily accessed of course by car and by Metra. I know of a few annual SF cons that do this for precisely these reasons. Lombard is supposed to get a convention center out by Yorktown Mall VERY soon. Naperville has considered it, but the plan was shelved. Rosemont, of course, has the Stephens Convention Center. Another angle to look at is see if any of the area colleges and universities want to take part at all, officially or unofficially (Naperville/Aurora/Lisle, for example, has North Central College, Aurora University and Benedicting University - this latter is KNOWN for bringing in speakers on "hot" topics).
