Revision as of 23:58, 7 December 2004
The Harmonious editing club was proposed by User:Ed Poor in December 2003. It has not yet become a visible force of the Misplaced Pages community.
Proposed guidelines
- Be bold (not reckless) in editing
- If your edits are reverted, discuss them before reverting back
- Don't revert more than once
Original call
Link added - none were present in the original text.
I would like to propose the formation of a sort of club or SIG within Misplaced Pages—sort of on the lines of the old semi-humorous Misplaced Pages "militia"—a group of contributors who will join to intervene in edit wars and work together to create a stable and neutral article, one which all parties to the edit war would agree is correct and good and satisfying.
These club members would show by example how to contribute in a harmonious, useful fashion. These members would bind THEMSELVES to the rule of "you can only revert once". They would propose options on the talk page BEFORE making edits to the article. They might even wait an hour or a day for assent from others before making a change.
These club members would politely remind others not to make abusive remarks on talk pages. They would refactor talk when it becomes too long or tangled.

Pages in need of harmony
- a.k.a. Pages on fire
Keep this list as short as possible — a maximum of five, please. There are plenty more pages in need of harmony listed on Misplaced Pages:Requests for comment. This list is for pages with particularly vehement conflicts that have lasted a very long time. Let's do our best to extinguish the flames by helping these pages find a consensus.
- Circumcision (talk) (listed since 11 Sep 2004)
- Anarchism (talk) (listed since 6 Sep 2004)
- Nazism (talk) (listed since 26 Mar 2004)
- Socialism (talk)
- Cultural and historic background of Jesus listed 9December 2004
A dissident voice
I respectfully suggest that the last thing I should be doing is getting involved in these conflicts, which have well established roots outside this or any other wiki. The day-to-day tussle of wikidom is where the cultural strength of the Harmonious Editor can best be exercised; I will not waste my time on lost causes. --Minority Report 01:08, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
