The name University of Wisconsin can have several meanings:
- University of Wisconsin–Madison, which was founded in 1848 as the University of Wisconsin, and is now the flagship campus of the University of Wisconsin System.
- The University of Wisconsin became ambiguous with the subsequent renaming of several of the state's universites beginning in 1956 with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus and continued with Green Bay (1968) and Parkside (1968).
