This user talk page might be watched by friendly talk page stalkers, which means that someone other than me might reply to your query. Their input is welcome and their help with messages that I cannot reply to quickly is appreciated.

  • Note to all potential talk page stalkers/watchers/gnomes: I request that only registered editors respond to the posts of other users here, and that they do so from their registered usernames. It's less confusing that way, and allows me to contact you more directly in the future if a follow-up is needed. It also avoids unnecessary confusion about who is responding. Thanks.

  • Please call me Bill or BilCat. My real life identity is private, as I'm not a publicly known person.
  • Note: I know the personal names of some editors, but unless your name is clearly stated on your userpage, I will just refer to you by your username, or some variation thereof. This is also due to identity and privacy issues. If your name is public and I use your unrelated username instead, please don't take it personally. I'd rather do that than accidentally use someone's private name. Thanks.

  • If you are discussing an article: I would prefer to use that article's talk page, unless you'd rather not to use that page for some reason, such as commenting on a particular user's edits in semi-privacy.

  • If I leave a message for you: Please respond on your talk page. I'll probably add it to my watchlist, but if I miss something, feel free to leave a talkback.

  • If you leave a message for me: I will most likely respond here. Either add this page to your watchlist or ask me to notify you of a response on your talk page.

  • If I remove your message from my talk page: Please DO NOT re-add the same message, or follow-up with another message - They will be removed again. This is a sign that I am disengaging from contact with you and/or the subject matter. The only exception to further posting is for notices that WP requires be given to inform a user of an ANI or similar discussions.

  • Please limit this talk page to discussions not related to any particular article, those covering a wide range of articles/topics, or personal comments.

  • If you wish to keep a matter confidential, such as discussing personal and/or confidential information, you may use the "E-mail" feature (usually activated!). I will respond in kind unless otherwise requested. This is not for discussing routine matters regarding editing on pages - please use the article talk pages for that.
  • Note: Sometimes my crappy ISP may lose my email before I've read it. That's the future of Awful.

  • If you want me to take your opinions and edits seriously, you ought to register. and use that account for all your edits to English WP. Otherwise one never knows who really made the edits, especially in the case of dynamic IP addresses. Also, having a unique body of work in your edit history is helpful to other editors in many positive ways, and shows that you are genuinely committed to building Misplaced Pages as an encyclopedia.
  • For example, you may have unique knowledge or insight on a particular topic, and having a talk page under your username allows other editors to consult you directly for advice on matters in your area of expertise. With a dynamic IP, no one knows how to contact you, so they won't.

  • Note: I reserve the right to decline or withdraw from a situation that is escalating or uncomfortable, without giving a reason, or to take further action through permissable means. This may include removing your messages from my talk page.

  • Related Note: User talk pages, including mine, are often used by other editors to ask for advice or help in difficult situations. (If you're a millennial, think "safe space".) If another user has mentioned you here in such a situation, please do not bring your arguments here, or attempt to defend yourself. Any such comments may be removed by me, or by some other editor, at any time. Please don't re-add the same or similar comments, as that will be treated as harassment. If you're feel the compulsion to respond everywhere your name is mentioned, even after being asked not to, that's a clear sign of immaturity, or worse. Grow up, or leave.

  • If I mistakenly called your edits as vandalism when I reverted them, it was probably because you did not leave an edit summary. (This also applies to Rollbacks.) Please realize that, in many cases, unexplained edits are indistinguishable from vandalism!

  • In case you wonder why I'm quick to delete new unsourced additions to articles, see .

  • If you're here to troll, harass, or vandalize, you will be reverted, probably blocked...and beware the giant dice.

  • Note: If you're from the future, or have somehow been contacted by or are in contact with someone from the future, please don't post information about the future in Misplaced Pages. This is extremely stupid of you, not to mention that it may upset the timeline. Instead, contact an investment banker, stock broker, or betting agent, and make some money for yourself and your family.

Edit warrior

Thx for the rv, tho TBH, I'm not so troubled I couldn't have waited & done it myself. :) That guy's gonna get himself blocked, the way he's going. Koloth, Dahar Master 20:04, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

@Trekphiler: Forgive me if I overstepped my bounds in this situation. However, the user has also been harassing me on my talk page, as shown in my edit history, so in that sense I'm already "involved". If you would rather me not revert at all, please say so explicitly, as Im quite dense sometimes, and I'll try to remember not to do it again. Cheers. - BilCat (talk) 21:06, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Overstepped, hell, just not necessary. :D TREKphiler 22:00, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Aircraft carrier

Hey BilCat ~ thanks for your help ~ do you think that file should be moved up closer to the lead ~ just asking ~ Mitchellhobbs (talk) 00:05, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Blocked tackle

Thx for the head's up. Good to see it. (TBH, tho, this one just wasn't getting to me... And no, I'm not any mellower than before. ;p) TREKphiler 12:03, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Location of Caribbean Court of Justice

Exceuse me, BilCat, but on what basis are you suggesting that the location of the Caribbean Court of Justice "isn't important" and that "its clearly stated that this is where it's based"? Because looking up the articles on the (1) European Court of Justice, (2) Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and (3) US Supreme Court, one can very easily see that all these articles give an exact location (and in some cases even an exact building) - respectively (1) the Palais building in Kirchberg, Luxembourg, (2) "second floor of the Heraldine Rock Building, Block B, on the Waterfront" in Castries and (3) "Located across First Street from the United States Capitol at One First Street NE and Maryland Avenue". Are we to edit these articles too to remove the specific address as being unnecessary?72.27.147.23 (talk) 10:11, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

@72.27.147.23: I looked at all 3 articles you mentioned, and none of them list the address in the lead section (introduction), which is where you were adding the specific street address. If you want to add it later in the body, in equivalent places where the address is mentioned in those articles, then feel free to do so. - BilCat (talk) 19:19, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

Precious

aviation

Thank you for quality articles around aviation such as Sikorsky S-69 (2006), Pratt & Whitney PW1000G (2007), North American FJ-1 Fury (2008), for project tagging, for welcoming new users and fighting vandalism, for "Note: The following comments may contain sarcasm. Or they may not." and "I hear you, John", - Bill, you are an awesome Wikipedian!
